  • Publication number: 20040162218
Abstract: A catalyst carrier having a circular cell honeycomb structure formed from a plurality of cell passages whose inner surfaces are substantially circular and are coated with a catalyst for oxidizing and/or deoxidizing exhaust gas of a vehicle, wherein the circular-cross-section cells are integrally formed with the catalyst carrier by extrusion. The catalyst carrier allows the catalyst layer to be uniformly coated on the inner surface of the cell while reducing the amount of catalyst consisting of precious metals, and the cell-density can be increased by minimizing the height between the centers of the cells vertically disposed.

  • Patent number: 6677748
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of discriminating a through-wall crack and measuring the through-wall length of the crack in a steam generator tube of a nuclear power plant. The method of the present invention is characterized in that the through-wall crack is discriminated and the through-wall length of the crack is measured in such a way that there are measured the number and positions of inflection points of a graph that is plotted by relating characteristic amplitude values of eddy current signals, which are generated whenever a coil of a motorized rotating probe passes the crack while being spirally rotated, to the positions in the length of the crack.

  • Patent number: 6273075
Abstract: Disclosed is a method to determine a failure status of a cylinder and for controlling an air fuel ratio for each cylinder by a simple method using a wide range oxygen sensor. When the engine in a car is in normal status, output values of the wide range oxygen sensor are determined. These measures detect the density of oxygen in the exhaust gasses during a predetermined cycle at specific crank angles, the ensemble average values are found, and the maximum and minimum values of the computed ensemble average values are detected. If the difference between the maximum and minimum values is greater than a set reference value, it is determined that there is a failure of a cylinder, and the position of the cylinder at the maximum or minimum value is determined.
