  • Publication number: 20220170088
Abstract: The invention is directed to nanopore-based methods for analyzing polymers, such as polynucleotides or proteins, containing optical labels specific for different kinds of monomers. In some embodiments, methods of the invention include steps of (a) translocating a polymer through a nanopore, wherein different kinds of monomers of the polymer are labeled with different optical labels that generate distinguishable optical signals and wherein the nanopore constrains the monomers to move single file through an excitation zone that encompasses a plurality of monomers; (b) detecting a time-ordered set of optical signals from the monomers as the polymer passes they pass through the excitation zone; (c) separating optical signals from different kinds of monomers to form monomer-specific time-ordered sets of optical signals; and (d) determining a sequence of monomers from the monomer-specific time-ordered sets of optical signals from the polymer.

  • Publication number: 20220112551
Abstract: The invention is directed to nanopore arrays comprising opaque layers that reduce background fluorescence in optical signal collected in applications of such arrays for analyzing molecules. In some embodiments, such arrays are used to determine characteristics of polymers, such as polynucleotides, in methods comprising the steps of translocating polymers through nanopores of such arrays wherein polymers have one or more optical labels, exciting optical labels of the polymers in a signal generation region of each nanopore extending from the opaque layer toward the direction of the excitation beam, detecting optical signals from the signal generation regions of each nanopore to determine characteristics of the polymer translocating therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20220074265
Abstract: A skew adjustment method and apparatus for adjusting the skewed condition of a movable rail of a window covering in which the movable rail is supported by lift cords wrapped around spools. A drive train disconnecting mechanism is used to disconnect a first spool from a second spool, the first spool is rotated relative to the second spool, thereby changing the length of the first lift cord relative to the second lift cord until the movable rail is in the desired position; and then the first and second spools are reconnected so the first and second spools rotate together. An end cap may be used to enable multiple disassemblies and reassemblies of the end cap to access the skew adjustment mechanism. In one embodiment, there are two movable rails, and the lift cords for both movable rails extend through the same rout holes in the covering. Disconnecting the first spool from the second spool may activate a mechanism that prevents the second spool from rotating.

  • Patent number: 11266400
Abstract: A knotless self-cinching suture construct device includes a shuttling suture, a continuous loop and a self-cinching suture member. The shuttling suture is configured for insertion into a passage hole in injured soft tissue, such as a torn or damaged meniscus in the knee. The shuttling suture and continuous loop are passed entirely through the passage hole in the tissue, and the self-cinching suture member is inserted through the continuous loop to form a hitch using the continuous loop around the tissue. The self-cinching suture member is then pulled tight, allowing a first strand to slide through both the hitched continuous loop and a self-cinching sleeve on the suture member. When tension is applied, the sleeve tightens around the strand much like a finger trap, preventing inadvertent release of the applied suture tension. The suture construct is configured for use through a transosseous tunnel with a suture button in some embodiments.

  • Patent number: 11225831
Abstract: An arrangement for securing an end cap onto a rail of a covering for an architectural opening includes an elongated rail extending in a longitudinal direction and an end cap having a slightly arcuate shape when at rest. At least one post projects inwardly from the end cap into the rail to contact a surface that is fixed relative to the rail to secure the end cap to the rail in a flattened condition. When the end cap is coupled the rail, the arcuate shape of the end cap is flattened out.

  • Patent number: 11208841
Abstract: In one aspect, a slat configured for use with a covering for an architectural structure includes a route slot defined at least partially by a route wall that is recessed relative to one or more outer faces of the slat. Additionally, the recessed route wall further defines a through-hole for passing a cord through the route slot between the opposed outer faces of the slat. By configuring the disclosed route slot in this manner, the dimensions of the through-hole can be significantly reduced while still allowing full tilting of the slat to the closed position, thereby increasing light control and privacy for the associated covering.

  • Patent number: 11201358
Abstract: A system for measuring a heat response of a cell during a thermal runaway event includes a housing. An insulation is positioned within the housing. A calorimeter is positioned within the insulation and the housing. The calorimeter is configured to have the cell positioned therein. The calorimeter is configured to measure a temperature increase of the cell, one or more components of the calorimeter, or a combination thereof during the thermal runaway event of the cell. A total energy yield of the thermal runaway event is configured to be determined based at least partially upon the temperature increase. A ratio is configured to be determined based at least partially upon the temperature increase. The ratio includes energy released through a casing of the cell during the thermal runaway event vs. energy released through ejecta material from the cell during the thermal runaway event.

  • Patent number: 11150653
Abstract: A system and related method operates to receive autopilot selection and monitor aircraft systems to control which autopilot is actively flying the aircraft. During certain flight operations in which a single autopilot is in use, the system reverts to the next available autopilot should the active and selected autopilot disconnect for any reason (e.g., faults and/or failures). The system maintains a redundant ability for pilot use of each pilot selectable mode of each autopilot channel including altitude hold, speed hold, heading hold, etc. For an indication to a pilot or remote operator that the system has reverted to a second autopilot, the system commands a momentary aural warning and a visual message/lights. For failures resulting in timely but necessary maneuver requirements, the system maintains autopilot control laws, control authority and roll authority.

  • Patent number: 11078723
Abstract: A skew adjustment mechanism is used for adjusting the length of a lift cord on a window covering. The lift cord extends from a lift spool at a first end to an anchor drum at a second end. A cord wrap post is provided between the lift spool and the anchor drum so that the lift cord can be wrapped around the cord wrap post to provide friction between the lift cord and the cord wrap post when the lift cord is taut in order to reduce the amount of holding force that is needed to prevent the anchor drum from rotating.
