Abstract: A method and system for using web feed information are provided in which web feed information is obtained relating to a resource referenced in a web feed, wherein web feed information includes at least one of: content of a web feed entry, metadata of a web feed, and information relating to a web feed. The web feed information may include content of a web feed entry such as a link to a resource, description of a resource, and metadata of a resource. The web feed information may also include information relating to a web feed such as metadata of the web feed itself, subscribers to the web feed, topic hierarchy of resources referenced in web feeds, web feed popularity, and resources linked by references in the same web feed. The web feed information relating to the resource is provided for access by a search engine. In order to enhance search engine capabilities and thus provide users with an improved search quality and experience.

Abstract: A system for monitoring search performance and user interaction is provided in the form of a utility (300) including a plurality of monitoring components (302), each for dynamic monitoring of an aspect of searching a collection of documents. An analyzer module (303) analyzes the dynamic monitoring and identifies problems or difficulties in the search performance or user interactions. An output (301), which may be in the form of a display interface, provides information regarding the search performance and user interaction including one or more of: reasoning, improvement suggestions, reports, and problem alerts. The analyzer module (302) compares the dynamic monitoring to benchmark search engine conduct and document collection state.

Abstract: A method for indexing a semi-structured document, the method including arranging at least one structure entity of a semi-structured document into at least one node of a context structure tree, associating a unique context identifier with any of the structure entities, creating, for any value of any of the structure entities, a context-modified value by appending a context delimiter and the context identifier to the value, and inserting the context-modified value into a free-text tree.
