  • Publication number: 20160302247
Abstract: A communication network for Device-to-Device (D2D) communications via at least one intermediate D2D communication device of the D2D communication network is described. A method is performed by the D2D communication device that includes receiving, from the at least one intermediate D2D communication device, a broadcast type message comprising an identifier of the another D2D communication device. A determination is made, based on the received identifier, whether to connect to the another D2D communication device. A unicast type message comprising the received identifier is sent to the at least one intermediate D2D communication device for connecting the D2D communication device and the D2D communication device to one another. These operations may allow the connection establishment to be performed in a robust, easy, efficient and energy-efficient way.

  • Publication number: 20160278123
Abstract: The disclosure relates to radio access systems, and more specifically to methods for media access in radio access systems. The disclosure relates to a method, performed in a first node in a wireless communication system, of accessing a shared media for directive signal transmission from the first node, the method comprises three steps. The first step is receiving, from a second node, a pilot signal announcing a directive signal transmission to or from the second node. The second step is predicting based on information in the received pilot signal, a collision rate between an intended directive signal transmission from the first node and the announced directive signal transmission, the information defining the channel resources used by the announced directive signal transmission and the third step is accessing the shared media based on the predicted collision rate.

  • Publication number: 20160242223
Abstract: A method, a node, an entity and a computer program for controlling vehicle-to-vehicle communication is described. The vehicle-to-vehicle communication is performable using a first radio technology for performing the vehicle-to-vehicle communication and a second radio technology for accessing a cellular network. The method comprises determining (234) a distribution scheme for distributing a transmission of vehicle-to-vehicle communication messages among the first radio technology and the second radio technology, and, in accordance with the determined distribution scheme, a vehicle-to-vehicle communication device (116a, 116b) controlling (238, 240) the transmission of the vehicle-to-vehicle communication messages. Therefore the vehicle-to-vehicle communication can be easily and efficiently controlled and the accordingly controlled vehicle-to-vehicle communication can be performed in an easy, efficient, cost-effective and reliable way.

  • Publication number: 20160212596
Abstract: A vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication device manages a cluster including the V2V communication device and at least one of other V2V communication device. The V2V communication device determines a cluster description specifying one or more characteristics of the cluster indicates the cluster description over a cellular network to a network node. The network node receives the cluster description and, on the basis of the received cluster description, assigns to the cluster a set of resources for V2V communication. The network node sends a resource assignment over the cellular network to the V2V communication device. The resource assignment indicates the assigned set of resources. The V2V communication device receives the resource assignment and assigns resources from the set of resources to the V2V communication devices of the cluster. Further, the V2V communication device indicates the assigned resources to the at least one further V2V communication device of the cluster.

  • Publication number: 20160135201
Abstract: A method and a radio node (110) for managing resources for D2D discovery in an ad-hoc radio communication munication network (100). The radio node (110) receives beacon signals from a number of further radio nodes (120, 130, 140). A respective beacon signal includes values indicating power received at the respective further radio node (120, 130, 140) for each resource of the amount of resources. The radio node (110) calculates, for each respective further radio node (120, 130, 140), values of SINR based on the values indicating power received at the respective further radio node (120, 130, 140). The radio node (110) selects at least one resource out of the amount of resources to increase number of discovering further radio nodes (120, 30, 140) and/or to increase average SINRover the further radio nodes (120, 130, 40). The radio node (110) broadcasts a further beacon signal on the selected at least one resource.

  • Publication number: 20160135200
Abstract: A method and a radio node (110) for managing resources for Device-to-Device discovery in an ad-hoc radio communication network are disclosed. The radio node (110) measures, on an amount of resources, received power to obtain values of received power. The values of received power include a respective value of received power for each resource of the amount of resources. The received power includes power of any existing beacon signals received from one or more of the further radio nodes (120, 130, 140).The radio node (110) selects at least one resource out of the amount of resources. The respective value of received power for the selected at least one resource is among the least of the obtained respective values of received power. The radio node (110) broadcasts, to the further radio nodes (120, 130, 140), a beacon signal on the selected at least one resource, wherein the beacon signal includes one or more of the values of received power. • Publication number: 20160073298
Abstract: A node of a cellular network detects entry of a vehicle-to-vehicle communication device into a cell of the cellular network. The node allocates resources to the vehicle-to-vehicle communication device, and sends channel information to the vehicle-to-vehicle communication device. The channel information can be included in a handover command to the vehicle-to-vehicle communication device. The channel information indicates the allocated resources. The vehicle-to-vehicle communication device uses the allocated resources for sending of vehicle-to-vehicle communication messages.

  • Publication number: 20150296411
Abstract: A vehicle-to-vehicle communication device (100; 100?) is provided with access to a cellular network (200, 210). The cellular network (200, 210) implements at least a first radio technology. The vehicle-to-vehicle communication device (100, 100?) further supports a second radio technology for vehicle-to-vehicle communication. For controlling vehicle-to-vehicle communication by the second radio technology, data from the cellular network (200, 210) are provided to the vehicle-to-vehicle communication device (100, 100?). For example, such data may be derived from presence or mobility information available in the cellular network (200, 210). On the basis of the data from the cellular network (200, 210), the vehicle-to-vehicle communication device (100, 100?) sets at least one control parameter of vehicle-to-vehicle communication by the second radio technology, e.g., a rate of sending a message or a transmission power utilized by the second radio technology.
