  • Publication number: 20040120282
Abstract: A mobile user receiver having a cancellation system for removing selected signals from a traffic signal prior to decoding includes a receiver having a system input for receiving communication signals from a transmitter over an air interface. The system input is supplied to a traffic signal cancellation system for canceling unwanted traffic signals. The system input is also supplied to a pilot signal cancellation system for removing a global pilot signal. The output of the pilot signal cancellation system is subtracted from the output of the traffic signal cancellation system to provide a cancellation system output free from unwanted traffic signals and the global pilot signal.

  • Publication number: 20040085920
Abstract: A synchronization signal is used in a wireless time division duplex communication system. The time division duplex communication system uses time slots in repeating frames for communication. The synchronization signal is transmitted from a base station to identify a code group associated with the base station. The synchronization signal comprises a spreading code associated with a selected base station. Binary bits identifying a code group associated with the selected base station are modulated by said spreading code using binary phase shift keying.

  • Patent number: 6717930
Abstract: A base station sends a synchronization signal in an assigned time slot to a user equipment in a time division duplex code division multiple access communication system. The base station has an assigned code group out of a predetermined number of code groups. The base station transmits selected secondary synchronization code signals out of a set of secondary synchronization code signals. The plurality of secondary synchronization code signals numbers less than half of the predetermined number of code groups. The user equipment identifies the transmitted selected secondary code signals. Based on in part the identified secondary synchronization code signals, the assigned code group is determined.

  • Patent number: 6603743
Abstract: A global pilot and unwanted traffic signal canceler for a spread spectrum communication system receiver that reduces their contributive noise effects. The present invention effectively cancels the global pilot and unwanted, active traffic signals prior to decoding a desired traffic signal at the receiver. The system and method decreases the bit error rate (BER) yielding an increased signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Publication number: 20020118705
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) is capable of receiving and transmitting communication signals in a time division duplex using code division multiple access format. The UE receives a primary code synchronization (PSC) signal, the PSC signal is received in a selected time slot in a PSC channel. Secondary synchronization signals are identified. The secondary synchronization signals are received along with the PSC signal. An assigned code group and the selected time slot is determined based on the identified secondary synchronization signals. The assigned code group is out of a predetermined number N of possible code groups. Each combination of the N code groups and the selected time slot associated with a unique combination of secondary signals from a set of secondary signals which does not exceed (log2N)+1 in number.

  • Publication number: 20020097705
Abstract: A base station is capable of communicating in a time division duplex using code division multiple access format. The base station transmits a primary synchronization signal and secondary synchronization signals for synchronization purposes. A primary synchronization signal is transmitted in a selected time slot in a primary synchronization channel. The primary synchronization channel uses a plurality of time slots for communication. Each of a plurality of combinations of N code groups and the plurality of time slots is associated with a unique combination of secondary synchronization signals from a set of secondary synchronization signals, which does not exceed (log2 N)+1 in number. Selected secondary synchronization signals are transmitted out of a set of secondary synchronization signals. The selected secondary signals are associated with one of the N code groups. The one group is associated with the base station.
