  • Publication number: 20070143483
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for managing session infonnation of an access tenminal (AT) that has moved from a source subnet to a target subnet in a mobile communication system for high-speed data transmission. The AT transmits a message with a prior universal access terminal identifier (UATI) to a target access network (AN) to perfonm session negotiation with the target AN of the target subnet. The target AN transmits a message with the prior UATI to a target packet control function (PCF) to request retrieval of session infonnation of the AT. The target PCF sends a request for transmission of prior session information for the AT to a source PCF of the source subnet, found using the prior UATI. The target PCF receives the prior session information from the source PCF and retrieves the session information of the AT using the received prior session information.

  • Publication number: 20060233370
Abstract: An encryption processing system and method are provided in a mobile communication system having an AT, an AN for sending packet data to the AT on a radio channel, a PCF for controlling the AN, and a PDSN for sending packet data to the AN through the PCF. The AT encrypts a packet generated upon user request and sends the encrypted packet on a radio channel. If it is indicated that the packet received from the AT was encrypted, the AN requests encryption information of the AT to the PCF and decrypts the encryption information received from the PCF. Upon receipt of the request of the encryption information of the AT from the AN, the PCF determines whether the AT is authenticated, extracts the encryption information of the AT if the AT is authenticated, and sends the extracted encryption information to the AN.

  • Patent number: 7099655
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for providing a broadcast service in a mobile communication system using code division multiple access (CDMA) technology. The novel method controls transmission of broadcast service data according to base station areas by registering a mobile station with a broadcast service. For that purpose, the mobile station requests an authentication server to authenticate a desired broadcast service, and registers the authenticated broadcast service in a packet data serving node via a base station so that the base station and the packet data serving node can set up a transmission path for the broadcast service. The method increases the efficiency of base station resources by controlling transmission times of base stations, and the packet data serving node can perform accounting on the broadcast service of the mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20060153079
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for setting up aquality-of-service (QoS) in a mobile communication system. A mobile terminal (MT) generates a resource reservation message including requested QoS information and packet filtering information for a predetermined service. A packet data service node (PDSN) stores the QoS information and the packet filtering information. Upon receiving packet data corresponding to the stored QoS information from the external network, the PDSN sends a request for a new QoS setup to the AN. An access network (AN) determines a granted QoS to be applied to a wireless session and sends a request for new QoS setup to the MT. If the MT grants the new QoS setup, the MT sends a response to the new QoS setup request from the MT to the PDSN via the AN.

  • Publication number: 20050111394
Abstract: In response to a BCMCS service request from a mobile station, a base station separately informs the mobile station whether the requested BCMCS service is available. Thus, the base station can include only broadcast channel information necessary for actual broadcast in a broadcasting overhead message, and if the BCMCS service is stopped or unavailable, the base station can order the mobile station to interrupt the BCMCS service, thereby reducing the load on system resources.

  • Publication number: 20050058090
Abstract: A system and method for synchronizing Broadcast/Multicast Service (BCMCS) traffic in a mobile communication system connected to a BCMCS server. A Packet Data Service Node (PDSN) receives a BCMCS content frame from the BCMCS server, and transmits a corresponding Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packet BCMCS content frame, including a sequence number and a timestamp value indicating when the GRE packet BCMCS content frame is transmitted, to Packet Control Functions (PCF) connected downstream of the PDSN. Each of the PCFs determines whether the GRE packet BCMCS content frame received from the PDSN is valid, based on the sequence number included therein. If the GRE packet BCMCS content frame is valid, the PCF transmits the frame to its lower nodes connected downstream of the PCF, while synchronizing the frame transmission, based on the timestamp value included in the frame.
