    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method performed by a network apparatus having a directional antenna arrangement in a wireless communication network. The method includes obtaining a scheduling decision for a wireless device served by the wireless communication network based on a traffic status and an energy status of the wireless device. Further, the method includes determining a first beamforming weight vector for information transmission and/or a second beamforming weight vector for energy transfer based on Channel State Information associated with the wireless device. The method further includes applying, to a signal, at least one of the determined first beamforming weight vector in order to transmit an information signal via the directional antenna arrangement to the wireless device and the determined second beamforming weight vector in order to transmit an energy signal via the directional antenna arrangement to the wireless device, based on the obtained scheduling decision.

The method further comprises performing a decoding operation on the data of the first data field using the first MCS and a decoding operation on the data of the second data field using the second MCS, and selecting the first MCS or the second MCS based on a result of the performed decoding operations.

The first device performs carrier sensing on a first sub-channel assigned an unknown occupancy state. When the first sub-channel is determined as being vacant, the first device transmits, to the second device, the data on the first sub-channel. When the first sub-channel is determined as being occupied, the first device assigns the first sub-channel an occupied state, starts a first time period associated with the first sub-channel, and performs carrier sensing on a second sub-channel assigned with the unknown occupancy state. When the second sub-channel is determined as being vacant, the first device transmits, to the second device, the data on the second sub-channel. In absence of the second sub-channel assigned an unknown occupancy state, the first device enters an inactive mode until the first time period has expired.
