  • Patent number: 5476539
Abstract: A low-profile gas purifying apparatus includes a plurality of conductive plates each having a serrated portion at the periphery thereof. The plates are disposed opposite a flat electrode which is coated with a dielectric layer and are separated from the flat electrode by a predetermined gap. A high voltage A.C. power source is connected between the plates and the flat electrode. The plane surfaces of the conductive plates are slanted with respect to the gas flow direction to reduce flow resistance through the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5084078
Abstract: An exhaust gas purifier unit has a bridged stream corona generator, an oil feeder for feeding oil to the bridged stream corona generator and an oil supplier for supplying an engine with oil stored in and flowing out of the bridged stream corona generator, so as to remove harmful gases contained in the exhaust gas, reliably over an extended period of time.

  • Patent number: 5061462
Abstract: An apparatus for producing a stable streamer corona discharge, used for example for cleaning exhaust gases of automobiles, has a first electrode including an electrical conductor which is made of a stainless steel bar having discrete protrusions or continuously formed protrusions produced on its surface by threading, the cross section of the protrusions being triangular or trapezoidal. A second electrode includes an electrical conductor disposed opposite to the first electrode with a space therebetween, and an insulating layer formed of suitable materials having high electrical resistances such as asbestos, ceramics, organic glasses or the like covers the second electrode over at least the whole surface opposing to the first electrode. A high voltage direct current supply or a high voltage alternating supply is connected to the first electrode and the second electrode.

  • Patent number: 4587807
Abstract: A device designed to use exhaust gas discharged out of an engine combustion chamber by dissociating chemical substances contained in the exhaust gas such as CO, CO.sub.2, NOx, HC, etc., in an exhaust gas molecule dissociating tube and drawing components of the exhaust gas, oxygen in particular, again into the engine combustion chamber. The device is so constructed as to collect dust including the carbon component of the exhaust gas in a cyclone drum for removal from the exhaust gas, which allows all of the engine exhaust to be recycled without releasing it in the atmosphere. The device is utilizable with various engines, e.g., gasoline engines, diesel engines and so on, and well-suited to mass production on account of its simple, compact and lightweight construction.

  • Patent number: 4345572
Abstract: This patent specification discloses an engine exhaust gas reflux apparatus constructed so as to purify exhaust gas coming out of various engines mounted on vehicles or ships for preferably preventing NO.sub.x from being discharged in the atmosphere. The engine exhaust gas reflux apparatus has a technical construction which removes dust particles and impurities contained in exhaust gas by means of a dust collector installed at the discharge port of the exhaust manifold, draws purified exhaust gas into the intake manifold and lowers combustion temperature produced when the engine fuel burns to eliminate NO.sub.x out of exhaust gas coming out of the exhaust manifold.

  • Patent number: 4326862
Abstract: This invention discloses an air cleaning device for engines which is provided with a check valve within the induction pipe thereof to check the back flow of mixed fuel gas, and thereby prevent the engine back fire, particularly an intake air cleaner for engines in which a cyclone type dust collector having an electrostatic filter is used. In this invention is disclosed a device which can prevent the ignition of the mixed fuel gas and thereby avoid explosion of the said gas.
