  • Publication number: 20190166596
Abstract: A RAN-based cellular integration architecture is described that eliminates or minimizes required core network support. A local access gateway (LA-GW) node, which may be a logical and physical node, may provide an interface, with a cellular base station, and may forward downlink and/or uplink local IP packets that are then redirected to the cellular link. Network Address Translation (NAT) and a “local access” field are used to support transmission of local access packets over the cellular link.

  • Patent number: 10306507
Abstract: Wireless communication traffic can be offloaded from a user equipment (UE) to two wireless points of access. For example, user equipment (UE) is connected to a radio access network (RAN) using a radio access technology (RAT) such as a long term evolution (LTE) network. The UE can determine which network capabilities are available for traffic offloading and adapt to the capabilities presented. In one embodiment, the UE can determine whether the network supports three different configurations and configure traffic offloading to operate within the network conditions: (1) RAN rules without access network detection and selection function (ANDSF), (2) ANDSF in conjunction with RAN rules or (3) enhanced ANDSF with RAN assistance.

  • Publication number: 20190138934
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media, are provided for distributed machine learning (ML) training using heterogeneous compute nodes in a heterogeneous computing environment, where the heterogeneous compute nodes are connected to a master node via respective wireless links. ML computations are performed by individual heterogeneous compute nodes on respective training datasets, and a master combines the outputs of the ML computations obtained from individual heterogeneous compute nodes. The ML computations are balanced across the heterogeneous compute nodes based on knowledge of network conditions and operational constraints experienced by the heterogeneous compute nodes. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Publication number: 20190141516
Abstract: System and techniques for information centric network (ICN) mobility management are described herein. A packet may be received, at a first network node positioned between a subscriber and a publisher of an ICN, for a second network node. Movement metrics for the second network node may also be received. The packet may then be transmitted to a third network node—selected from a plurality of network nodes based on the movement metrics—for delivery to the second network node.

  • Publication number: 20190124546
Abstract: An apparatus of a base station includes a memory device and processing circuitry operatively coupled to the memory device. The processing circuitry processes a buffer status report (BSR) from a user equipment (UE) indicating an amount of data in a buffer of the UE. The processing circuitry further determines a ratio of WLAN uplink data to be transmitted on a WLAN channel of the UE to long term evolution (LTE) uplink data to be transmitted on a LTE channel. Furthermore, the processing circuitry encodes a protocol data unit (PDU) indicating the amount, wherein the PDU is to be transmitted to the UE.

  • Patent number: 10257753
Abstract: A network device (e.g., an evolved Node B (eNB), user equipment (UE) or the like) can operate wireless local area network (WLAN) mobility between groups of WLAN access points (APs) in LTE/WLAN aggregation based on control by the eNB and further between WLAP APs within a particular group based on control by the UE. A long term evolution (LTE) link can communicate a first set of WLAN data related to a first set of WLAN access points (APs) that enables the UE to generate a WLAN mobility operation from a first WLAN AP to a second WLAN AP within the first set of WLAN APs based on a determination generated by the UE. The UE can be prompted by the eNB to also select another WLAN AP of the second set of WLAN APs coupled to a different WLAN Termination or logic node.

  • Publication number: 20190097712
Abstract: In a radio-access network utilizing beam-formed communications, beam direction for uplink or downlink communications is determined based on learned beam directions applicable to a current location of user equipment (UE) in lieu of a sector scan when prior transmission performance measures are available for the current location. A beam-finding map that associates a plurality of locations with corresponding beam directions previously determined to be operative to direct transmission from those locations to a recipient device is used.
