The multiport interface device is configurable to directly route data signals received in one or more of the input ports of the interface device to one or more specified output ports of the interface device. The routing of the data can be accomplished by port slicing of the interface device and/or by utilizing coded adapters engaged at the input and output ports of the interface to route signals from multiple peripheral devices to a patient monitor, as necessary.
