  • Patent number: 7460449
Abstract: This specification discloses a recordable optical recording medium containing preinstalled information, the method of reading the preinstalled information, and the circuit thereof. The recordable optical recording medium containing preinstalled information is a substrate with a spiral pregroove. Microscopically, the pregroove has regular wiggles. They are featured in containing a first waveform, a second waveform, and a third waveform with the same fundamental wave cycle. The duty cycle of the first waveform is 1. The duty cycles of the second and third waveforms are distinct. The combinations of these duty cycles are used to record the preinstalled information. Moreover, the invention discloses a method and circuit of reading the preinstalled information. After obtaining the wobble signals, the method further takes the steps of phase corrections, integrations, and resetting to more accurately obtain the preinstalled information.

  • Patent number: 7383585
Abstract: A method controls the access times of an optical disc end discs of the same. The method includes the following steps. First, an optical disc drive obtains the addresses of a life flag and a medium key block (MKB) by reading a private flag of an optical disc. The life flag and the MKB are used to control the access times of the optical disc. After confirming the addresses of the life flag and the MKB, the optical disc drive obtains an optical power signal to determine the power that should be used to read the MKB. When the optical disc drive uses the appropriate reading power to access the MKB, the recognizable number of access times in the 4KB data is reduced, and the medium key signal is extracted to be confirmed if it is recognizable to restate the main data.

  • Publication number: 20060282746
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for accessing data stored on an optical disc. The apparatus includes a PI decoding module, a storage unit, and a PO decoding module. The PI decoding module is utilized for PI decoding and correcting the digital data read from the optical disc to generate a first digital data. The storage unit is utilized for storing the first digital data generated by the PI decoding module. The PO decoding module is utilized for PO decoding and correcting according to the first digital data generated by the PI decoding module to generate a second digital data and writing the second digital data to the storage unit. The first digital data is a portion of an ECC block.

  • Patent number: 7113461
Abstract: A circuit for tracking error signal detection on an optical storage medium, which has a plurality of digitizers, a plurality of logic comparators and a difference amplifier, is disclosed. The circuit involves summing the signals to be compared and obtaining a delay signal via a delayer. Therefore, the phase difference of the signals is detected via the delay signal to obtain the tracking error signal of the optical storage medium.
