Abstract: The present invention provides a vertical card connector capable of preventing an undesirable flow of melted solder which destroys proper contacts and of removing a corrosion-causing acid gas. The vertical card connector includes an insulating housing with a plurality of contact terminals and a heat-resisting insulating resin film covering the bottom surface of the housing. The solder tail of the contact is inserted into a corresponding plated through hole and soldered there. The film prevents melted solder from flowing past the solder tail toward a contact beam of the contact at the time of soldering. Gas produced from the solder escapes through the gap between the circuit board and the bottom of the housing.

Abstract: A single-sided, straddle mount printed circuit board edge connector positively mechanically locks the connector to the circuit board using a plurality of gripper arm assemblies spaced along the connector housing. The gripper arm assemblies each include an upper and lower gripper arm defining therebetween a printed circuit board receiving space. The gripper arm assemblies positively mechanically lock the printed circuit board to the connector without the use of through holes and screws. The connector overcomes the disadvantages of connector tilt problems, manufacturability and provides for simplicity in assembling the connector and printed circuit board.

Abstract: A card connector according to the current invention provides a substantially low profile when it is placed on the board. Stoppers and solder tails are situated at the bottom of the housing of the card connector and extend in the perpendicular direction with respect to the housing. In one embodiment, the connector housing is inserted into a mount opening of a circuit board from a rear side of the circuit board. A portion of the housing may be positioned above the front surface of the circuit board while stoppers and solder tails are positioned on the rear surface of the circuit board. Since the solder tails are soldered to the circuit board, it is possible to reduce the height of the connector housing that extends over the front surface of the circuit board.

Abstract: An electrical connector has an insulating housing with contact terminals which extend therethrough. The contact terminals are provided to electrically connect a mother board to a daughter board. A board-receiving opening is provided in the housing for reception of the daughter board therein. A pair of latch members are provided on the housing for latching the daughter board to take a predetermined posture with respect to the mother board. A pair of restricting metal plates are mounted on the housing for restricting the latch members from being flexed in a direction to move the paired latch members away from each other. A spring is provided in the board-receiving opening for enabling a spring force to be applied to the daughter board in a direction to urge the daughter board into the predetermined posture against a push force by the daughter board received in the board-receiving opening.

At least one of the contact arrays is adapted to interchangeably connect to either a memory card or a hard disk drive package. The connector device may further comprise upper and lower ejection mechanisms for ejecting storage devices from the respective storage spaces.

Abstract: A connector apparatus having a reduced total packaging height despite the presence of mounting receptacle connectors on each the surfaces of a mount board is disclosed. The mount board is formed from a flexible printed circuit bonded to a support plate. The mount board is bent in a stepped or offset relation to an axis extending perpendicular to the surface of the board mount to provide a pair of opposed step sections, lower and upper. A receptacle connector is mounted to the upper and to the lower step section of the mount board; that is, to the side of the board mount having the flexible printed circuit board side and one to the side of the board mount having the support plate. The upper and lower receptacles extend in mutually opposed directions along the axis.

Abstract: A relatively compact profile hard disc drive package is disclosed in which an clean room zone internal to the drive casing may be sealed despite the presence of a linking connector extending from the package. A cutout is provided in the casing and a connector body is fitted into the cutout so that the connector does not project beyond the surface of the casing. The connector has pins that are mated to a receptacle connector located within the casing and other pins that are mated to a receptacle connector on the exterior of the casing. The cutout is sealed by a sealant that is received between projections extending from the body of the connector.
