  • Patent number: 6943007
Abstract: There is disclosed novel Phellinus linteus Yoo. This mushroom is identified as novel as analyzed by restriction fragment length polymorphism and by microbiological features. A polysaccharide substance isolated from the fruiting bodies or mycelia the strain and other Phellinus spp. has an anticancer activity by inciting the cytotoxicity of T-cells and the antibody forming potency of B-cells. Also, the polysaccharide substance shows a potent activity against cancer metastasis. The polysaccharide substance, which can stimulate the immunity of the body, may be effective in the prophylaxis and treatment of immune-related diseases, such as cancers and AIDS, and in the study on the basic mechanism of the diseases.

  • Patent number: 6090844
Abstract: The present invention is a pharmaceutical compound which is used for the preparation of TAXOL.RTM. as an injection solution which is effective in clinical utilization as a cancer-inhibiting drug. The addition of calcium disodium edetate and tromethamine to conventional injections solutions enhances the stability of the solution and reduces the side effects normally associated with administration of TAXOL.RTM.. The compound comprises dehydrated ethanol, polyepoxilated castor oil, tromethamine, and calcium disodium edetate in specified ranges.

  • Patent number: 6066748
Abstract: The present invention teaches a method of extracting TAXOL.RTM. from the leaves of taxus cupidata plants. The process comprises a series of steps, including the concentration of the extracts obtained from the plant, the separation of the aqueous and chloroform phases, and several purification procedures. In addition, the present invention teaches a multi-step process wherein the virtual removal of chlorophyll is achieved prior to the introduction of the extract into the silica gel packing material. This prevents the deactivation of the silica gel packing material by chlorophyll in the extract solution.
