  • Patent number: 8978410
Abstract: A refrigerating system is provided in which a heat exchanging unit performs heat exchange between first and second evaporators, so that the first and second evaporators have similar temperatures, and so that an additional “pump-down” operation may be avoided, thereby reducing compressor losses due to discharge occurrences. Since the additional pump-down operation may be avoided, power consumption may be reduced, and reliability and efficiency of the system may be enhanced. Additionally, a backflow preventing unit for preventing backflow of refrigerant in an evaporator may not be required, thus further reducing fabrication cost and complexity.

  • Patent number: 8701428
Abstract: A refrigerator and a method for controlling the same are provided. More particularly, the refrigerator is provided with a dispenser having a cavity for a cup, dispenser doors that open and close the cavity, and a door driver positioned in the dispenser that drives the dispenser doors. The dispenser doors may be automatically controlled to open and close, thereby improving cleanliness and an exterior appearance of the refrigerator by reducing dust accumulation in the dispenser during periods of non-use.

  • Publication number: 20110016887
Abstract: A defrosting assembly, a refrigerator having the same, and a method of controlling the same are provided. The refrigerator may include a food defrosting chamber, which may be divided from a food storage chamber that cools or freezes food, a defrosting device, which may be positioned in and may be removable from the food defrosting chamber, and a thermoelectric module, which may be positioned in the food defrosting chamber to heat an inside of the defrosting device and to cool an outside of the defrosting device. In a defrosting mode, frozen food may be rapidly defrosted by using the defrosting device, while in a general or a rapid cooling mode, the defrosting device may be used for food storage.

  • Publication number: 20100192622
Abstract: A refrigerating system is disclosed. Since heat exchange is performed between first and second evaporators by a heat exchanging unit, the first and second evaporators have temperatures similar to each other, thereby requiring no additional ‘pump-down’ operation. Also, a compressor does not have a discharge occurrence owing to no additional ‘pump-down’ operation, thereby having no loss and an enhanced reliability. Besides, since no additional pump-down operation is required, power consumption for operating the compressor so as to collect a remaining refrigerant is reduced. Accordingly, the efficiency of the refrigerating system is enhanced. Furthermore, as the ‘pump-down’ operation is not required, a backflow preventing unit for preventing a refrigerant collected from an evaporator from backflowing to the evaporator is not required. Accordingly, the fabrication cost is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100162744
Abstract: A refrigerator is disclosed. A freezing chamber evaporator and a cooling chamber evaporator are installed at an inner side of a ceiling surface of a freezing chamber and a cooling chamber. Accordingly, the freezing chamber and the cooling chamber have deeper depths thus to have large available capacities, thereby freshly receiving a large amount of food items. Furthermore, a cool air channel is formed at the freezing chamber door and the cooling chamber door so as to be connected to a cool air channel of the ceiling surface. Accordingly, a temperature difference between an inner space and a door basket does not occur, thereby storing food or beverage items received in the door basket in a fresh condition.

  • Publication number: 20100154461
Abstract: A refrigerator is disclosed. A freezing chamber evaporator and a chilling chamber evaporator are installed at an inner side of a partition wall that partitions a freezing chamber and a chilling chamber from each other. Accordingly, the freezing chamber and the chilling chamber have deep depths thus to have large available capacities, thereby freshly receiving a large amount of food items. Furthermore, a cool air channel is formed at the freezing chamber door and the chilling chamber door so as to be connected to a cool air channel of the partition wall. Accordingly, a temperature difference between an inner space and a door basket does not occur, thereby storing food or beverage items received in the door basket with a fresh state.
