  • Patent number: 10760410
Abstract: Various apparatus or methods are arranged to operate a tool in a wellbore, where the tool has a number of acoustic sensors. Scanning images obtained by the tool sensors along the borehole can be combined to increase the contrast of leak location with respect to background noise. A sequence of beamformed images, generated from signals captured by the tool as it moves over a range of depths of the wellbore, can be acquired. Each beamformed image may overlap at least one other beamformed image of the sequence. The beamformed images can be processed and the processed beamformed images can be combined, forming a stitched image. Additional apparatus, systems, and methods operable in providing stitched images can operate in a variety of applications.

  • Publication number: 20200271803
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include leak detection systems and methods of downhole leak detection. In one embodiment, the method includes obtaining physical signals detected by a physical sensor over a period of time while the physical sensor is traveling along a wellbore, wherein the physical signals are acoustic signals of a leak. The method also includes performing a sequence extraction operation on the physical signals of the physical sensor to obtain a plurality of virtual signals associated with an array of virtual sensors, wherein each virtual sensor of the array of virtual sensors is located at a respective virtual distance relative to the physical sensor. The method further includes determining a signal strength of the plurality of virtual signals. The method further includes determining a location of the leak based on the signal strength of the plurality of virtual signals.

  • Patent number: 10738785
Abstract: A method for monitoring operation of an electric submersible pump. The method includes receiving data signals indicating values for a plurality of parameters regarding operation of the electric submersible pumping system; establishing, for at least some of the plurality of parameters, an associated reference signal; and detecting a deviation of one of the parameters from the reference signal associated with that parameter. As a result of the deviation having a rate of change below a predetermined threshold, the method includes updating the value of the reference signal to reflect the deviation. As a result of the deviation having a rate of change above the predetermined threshold, the method includes detecting an event and generating an indication of the event. The indication of the event further depends on a type of the parameter and a direction of the deviation from the reference signal.

  • Patent number: 10578867
Abstract: A head-up display device for displaying a virtual image superimposed over a field of view to a viewer is provided. The head-up display device includes a picture generating unit having an illumination source, such as a laser, to generate a real image following a first light beam. A windshield of a vehicle engages the first light beam, either at an inclined angle or perpendicular, to reflect the first light beam away from the viewer as reflected images. A combiner disposed on the windshield including a holographic optical element steers the first light beam toward the viewer as a third light beam to present the virtual image within the field of view of the viewer. Mirrors may direct and magnify first light beam onto the combiner. A method for displaying a virtual image superimposed over a field of view to a viewer using a head-up display device is also provided.

  • Patent number: 10577923
Abstract: A leak-detecting assembly can include an array of hydrophones. The array can be moved within a hydrocarbon well. A variation in the Doppler shift caused by a stationary acoustic source (such as a leak) while the array moves towards and away from that source can be determined based on information from the array of hydrophones. The assembly can be associated with a passive system that captures acoustic signals directly from the source or leak and estimates a location of the source or leak based on measurement of Doppler shift in each receiver.
