    Abstract: The edge detection method according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include: convolving pixels to be processed, based on templates in respective predetermined directions for edge detection operators and a logarithm of grayscale values for respective pixels adjacent to the pixels to be processed, so as to obtain brightness differential approximations in the respective predetermined directions for the pixels to be processed; calculating gradient magnitudes of the pixels to be processed, based on the brightness differential approximations in the respective predetermined directions for the pixels to be processed; comparing the gradient magnitudes of the pixels to be processed with a gradient magnitude threshold, and selecting the pixels to be processed whose gradient magnitudes are larger than or equal to the gradient magnitude threshold as edge pixels; and extracting a contour of a target within an image, based on the resultant edge pixels.
