  • Publication number: 20250160862
Abstract: Described herein are shock wave catheters having discontinuous emitter bands. The catheters may be used for treating occlusions in a body lumen. In some examples, the catheters include an elongated tube, a shock wave electrode assembly at least partially embedded within the elongated tube, and an enclosure surrounding the shock wave electrode assembly. In some examples, the electrode assembly includes an emitter band at least partially encircling the elongated tube, the emitter band forming a first electrode of an electrode pair, and one wire having a distal end forming a second electrode of the electrode pair. The shock wave electrode assembly is configured to emit a shock wave when a voltage pulse is applied across the electrode pair. In some examples, the at least one emitter band is compressible to reduce a diameter of the emitter band.

  • Publication number: 20250064470
Abstract: A shock wave catheter for performing intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) is provided. The catheter includes an elongated tube having a central longitudinal axis, an enclosure sealed to the distal end of the elongated tube, and an adjustable emitter assembly disposed within the enclosure. The emitter assembly includes at least one laterally moveable or positionable shock wave generating emitter that, in a first configuration, is closer to the central longitudinal axis of the catheter, and, in a second configuration, is farther from the central longitudinal axis than in the first position. Various embodiments include support structures for the emitters, multiple balloons for positioning the emitters, helical ribbons, angled emitter ports, and other exemplary features for moving and/or positioning the emitters. Systems and methods for treating lesions in a body lumen are also provided herein.

  • Publication number: 20240260981
Abstract: A catheter for treating an occlusion in a body lumen includes a movable emitter carrier having one or more shock wave emitters. The one or more shock wave emitters are movable in a longitudinal direction of the catheter along an inner shaft. In a first configuration of the catheter, the one or more shock wave emitters are retracted from a distal fluid-fillable enclosure. In a second configuration of the catheter, the one or more shock wave emitters are inserted in the distal fluid-fillable enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20140276791
Abstract: Treatment devices with electrode contact surfaces configured for enhancing uniformity of electrical energy distribution are provided. In one embodiment, a treatment device includes a tubular electrode having a wall, a contact surface defined by the wall, and cut shapes at least partially extending through the wall. The tubular electrode is configured to transmit electrical energy to a treatment site within a body lumen via the contact surface, and the individual cut shapes are configured to draw a portion of the electrical energy toward an interior region of the contact surface. A shaft having a distal end portion operably coupled to the tubular electrode can locate the tubular electrode at the treatment site.
