  • Publication number: 20080083648
Abstract: A heavy lubricant base stock is made by (a) producing a synthesis gas from natural gas, (b) reacting the H2 and CO in the gas in the presence of a cobalt Fischer-Tropsch catalyst, at reaction conditions effective to synthesize waxy hydrocarbons boiling in the heavy lubricant oil range, which are hydrodewaxed it at least two stages, with interstage separation and removal of the lighter material.

  • Publication number: 20070155614
Abstract: Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis using a cobalt catalyst is used to produce waxy fuel and lubricant oil hydrocarbons from synthesis gas derived from natural gas. The waxy hydrocarbons are hydrodewaxed, with reduced conversion to lower boiling hydrocarbons, by contacting the waxy hydrocarbons, in the presence of hydrogen, with an unsulfided 10-ring, 1-dimensional zeolite catalyst that has been reduced and then treated by contacting it with the synthesized hydrocarbons containing one or more oxygenates, including indigenous oxygenate. Tail gas from the hydrodewaxing reactor can be used for the hydrocarbon synthesis.

  • Publication number: 20070138060
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for upgrading petroleum streams which have been treated with peroxide, extracted to remove oxidized sulfur and nitrogen compounds, dewaxed and hydrofinished. More particularly, peroxides are generated in-situ by combining the petroleum stream with a high neutralization number (HNN) crude and adding an oxygen-containing stream. Alternatively, the oxidation of sulfur and nitrogen compounds may be accomplished by adding peroxides in the presence of oil soluble metal catalysts. The peroxides oxidize nitrogen and sulfur compounds in the petroleum stream to more polar compounds which are solvent extracted.

  • Patent number: 5611506
Abstract: A dialysis assist device for use by peritoneal dialysis patients facilitates connection of tubing communicating fluid bags with a catheter implanted in the dialysis patient. The assist device includes a tray which includes a groove extending through the tray which receives tubing and a connecter for connecting the tubing to the catheter. The connecter includes a flange that is received in a groove in the aperture, thereby holding the connecter while the patient connects the catheter to the connecter. Receptacles are provided for receiving the used cap covering the catheter and for assisting the patient in connecting a new sterile cap to the catheter when dialysis has been completed.
