  • Publication number: 20090258137
Abstract: Thermoplastic compositions containing certain salts of fluorinated sulfonic acids adhere especially well to coatings (paints) applied to the surface(s) of that composition. Useful parts that can be made include painted automotive body parts, appliance cases, and other parts with painted aesthetically pleasing surfaces.

Inventors: Gregory R. Alms, Toshikazu Kobayashi, Nandakumar S. Rao, Andreas Renken
  • Patent number: 5032136
Abstract: Stain-resistant compositions comprising sulfonated phenol-formaldehyde condensation products and polymers of maleic anhydride and one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, polyamide textile substrates treated with the same, and processes for their preparation. The stain-resistant compositions and substrates possess improved stain resistance but do not suffer from yellowing to the extent that previously known materials do.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 16, 1990
Date of Patent: July 16, 1991
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company

  • Patent number: 5008030
Abstract: A stable, acidic disinfectant all-purpose liquid cleaning composition, free of detergent builders and substantially free of organic solvents, comprising a mixture of acid stable water-soluble and water-dispersible nonionic surfactants, organic acid and a water soluble, acid stable disinfectant compound in an aqueous medium. The composition spreads quickly and provides good detergency with efficient penetration of soils while maintaining a high level of disinfectant activity. A soil releasing agent may also be included in the composition in order to provide easier cleaning of the treated surface during subsequent cleaning operations. The composition is particularly effective for cleaning soap scum and mineral deposits from hard surfaces such as grout, ceramic tile, stainless steel and glass.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 17, 1989
Date of Patent: April 16, 1991
    Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive Co.
Inventors: William J. Cook, Karen L. Wisniewski, Nagaraj S. Dixit, Nandakumar S. Rao
  • Patent number: 5001004
Abstract: Stain-resistant, polyamide textile substrates treated with compositions comprising hydrolyzed ethylenically unsaturated aromatic/maleic anhydride polymers and processes for their preparation. The treated substrates possess stain resistance that is as good as or better than do previously known stain-resist treated substrates but do not suffer from yellowing to the extent that previously known treated substrates do.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 2, 1990
Date of Patent: March 19, 1991
Assignee: E. I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company
Inventors: Patrick H. Fitzgerald, Nandakumar S. Rao, Yashavant V. Vinod, George K. Henry, Kenneth S. Prowse
