The present invention confirmed that Osteomeles schwerinae extract and its fractions inhibited the generation of AGEs, the index for diabetic complications, inhibited the activation of aldose reductase, had anti-cataract activity, and had anti-oxidative activity. Thus, the present invention relates to a preventive and therapeutic agent for diabetic complications containing the said Osteomeles schwerinae extract and its fraction as an active ingredient.
