  • Publication number: 20100227112
Abstract: A composite ply is provided by the present invention, with a substrate having a plurality of fibers extending from at least one side and a plurality of fiber fasteners each being formed by the adhering together with a bonding agent of adjacent groupings of fibers. The bonding agent increases the form-holding characteristics of the fiber fasteners, such that the fastening qualities are enhanced. Advantageously, soft fiber can be stiffened to a certain level and used as fasteners that resist crushing during engagement of the fasteners. After the fastener engagement process is done, the engaged fasteners may be crushed and further interlocked when compressed within a layup with a increased compression load.

  • Publication number: 20080193709
Abstract: The present invention is to provide methods to increase composite interlaminate strength and interface strength, and make 3D fibers products, prepregs and composites, by using trans-interface and/or trans-fiber products such as trans-plies, strands and/or yarns fastening components selected from the group comprising of hooks and loops (velcro), hooks and hooks, zipper heads, fish hook shape hooks, staples, arrow heads, forks and mushroom heads. One ply of fibers has one or multiple of the above fasteners on at least one side. Lay-up the plies with said fastening components on its one or two sides to obtain a 3D fiber products with those fastening components locked together. The plies can be separated if need re-lay-up. A thread or a yarn have the fastening components around 0-360 degree on its surface. Lay the threads together or intercross each other to get a 3D fiber products. In those 3D fiber products, two parts of the fastening components lock each other if they meet and engage.

  • Publication number: 20050019092
Abstract: A button binder, adapted for binding papers each having at least a punched hole along one edge thereof, includes at least a button which includes a button post comprising a post constructed for passing through the punched holes of the papers and a locking head provided at a top end of the post a button cap having a cap hole for receiving the locking head of the post of the button post therein, and a locking device for securely fastening the locking head in the cap hole at a designated direction for holding the papers between the button post and the button cap in such a manner that the button cap is tightly engaged with the locking head of the post of the button post at a locking side to prevent the button cap from pulling apart from the locking head of the button post while leafing through the papers bound between the button post and the button cap where a pulling force applied to the papers being leafed tends to pull the button cap from the locking head of the button post, and that the button cap is capable

  • Patent number: 6663310
Abstract: The primary object of the present of invention is to provide a button binder in which paper or sheets can be easily retained and moved out, which exclude the above-mentioned disadvantages. In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, the button binder includes several buttons, connection pieces, pulling pieces, a front sheet, a rear sheet and strips. An appropriate number of the buttons are fixed on the appropriate position on the binder, such as on the left portion or top portion of the rear sheet. The buttons mainly compromises a cap and a post. The cap has an axial hole. The post is capable of engaging in the axial hole of the cap and being fastened tightly. Punched papers or sheets can be hold by the post under the cap. When paper in the button binder is opened, there is big force to open the buttons. In order to secure the paper tightly, the buttons are designed to be opened only in a proper direction or site, and the buttons can not be opened in non-proper direction or site.
