    Abstract: A coating composition containing as essential components(A) a prepolymer of epoxy resin and polyhydroxy phenolic compound selected from the group consisting of:(i) poly-nuclear polyhydroxy phenols having adjacent hydroxy groups,(ii) polyol esters of polyhydroxy phenolic carboxylic acids having adjacent hydroxy groups,(iii) a mixture thereof, and(B) an organic hardener for epoxy resins.This coating composition can be coated on rusty metal surfaces.
