Patent number: 6672101Abstract: An oil storage area (45a) is defined on the bottom of a motor chamber (45) of a scroll compressor (1). An oil transfer route (4a) is defined in the portion of a center housing (4) that corresponds to the storage area (45a). Lubricating oil L is separated from the discharged, compressed refrigerant by an oil separator (80) and the lubricating oil L is supplied to the backside of a movable scroll (20) due to a pressure differential within the compress (1). After lubricating a bearing (10), the lubricating oil L is temporarily stored in the storage area (45a) and then is transferred due to a pressure differential to the suction-side of a compression mechanism (21) via the oil transfer route (4a). The lubricating oil L is then transferred to the oil separator (80) together with the compressed refrigerant that is discharged from a compression chamber (32) of the compression mechanism (21).Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2002Date of Patent: January 6, 2004Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyota JidoshokkiInventors: Hiroyuki Gennami, Kazuhiro Kuroki, Ken Suitou, Naohiro Nakajima, Shinji Tsubai, Kazuya Kimura

Patent number: 6568928Abstract: A scroll-type compressor has a fixed scroll member, a movable scroll member, a front housing, a rear housing and a gasket seal. The fixed scroll member and the movable scroll member cooperate to form a compression region. The movable scroll member orbits relative to the fixed scroll member to compress refrigerant in the compression region. A movable scroll base plate of the movable scroll member forms a rear surface and a discharge hole substantially at the center of the movable scroll base plate. Pressure of the refrigerant discharged from the compression region is applied to the rear surface of the movable scroll base plate. The front housing accommodates the movable scroll member. The rear housing which is adjacent to the front housing, has the fixed scroll member inside. The gasket seal is located between the front housing and the rear housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2001Date of Patent: May 27, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyota JidoshokkiInventors: Hiroyuki Gennami, Kazuhiro Kuroki, Kenji Isomura, Shinji Tsubai, Naohiro Nakajima, Yasushi Watanabe

Patent number: 6558143Abstract: Scroll compressors may include a stationary scroll, a drive shaft, a crank shaft coupled to the drive shaft, a bearing member coupled to the crank shaft and a movable scroll coupled to the crank shaft. The movable scroll is typically disposed adjacent to the stationary scroll. Further, the movable scroll preferably includes a boss that extends in the axial direction of the crank shaft. A spacer may be disposed between the boss and the bearing member and the spacer preferably transmits orbital movement of the crank shaft to the movable scroll. A compression chamber is defined by a space between the stationary scroll and the movable scroll. Fluid (e.g. a refrigerant gas) is compressed within the compression chamber when the movable scroll revolves or orbits with respect to the stationary scroll. A discharge port may be defined within the movable scroll and may be adapted to discharge the compressed fluid to a side that is opposite of the stationary scroll.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 2001Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Toyota JidoshokkiInventors: Naohiro Nakajima, Hiroyuki Gennami, Kazuhiro Kuroki, Kazuo Kobayashi, Shinji Tsubai, Yasushi Watanabe

Publication number: 20020102172Abstract: A scroll compressor has a fixed scroll member, a movable scroll member, a housing. The housing is secured to the fixed scroll member. The housing accommodates the movable scroll member to define a back pressure chamber. Pressure in the back pressure chamber is applied to the back surface of a movable scroll base plate of the movable scroll member. The back pressure chamber communicates with a region through a communication passage. The region is lower in pressure than the back pressure chamber. The communication passage relieves the pressure in the back pressure chamber to the region. The communication passage includes a valve. The valve varies an opening amount of the communication passage due to difference between the pressure in the compression region in the predetermined period of a compression process of the gas, and the pressure in the back pressure chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 29, 2002Publication date: August 1, 2002Inventors: Hiroyuki Gennami, Kazuhiro Kuroki, Kenji Isomura, Shinji Tsubai, Naohiro Nakajima

Publication number: 20020085937Abstract: A scroll type compressor has a housing, a fixed scroll member fixed to the housing, a drive shaft rotatably supported by the housing, a movable scroll member accommodated in the housing, an inlet formed through the housing and a discharge device provided for one of the movable. scroll member and the fixed scroll member. The movable scroll member faces the fixed scroll member. The movable scroll member and the fixed scroll member define a compression region. Gas introduced into the compressor via the inlet is compressed in the compression region by orbiting the movable scroll member relative to the fixed scroll member by rotation of the drive shaft, and is discharged via the discharge device. A plane bearing is disposed between the drive shaft and the housing to at least partially seal any gap between the drive shaft and the housing against the passage of the pressurized gas therethrough.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2001Publication date: July 4, 2002Inventors: Hiroyuki Gennami, Kazuhiro Kuroki, Kenji Isomura, Shinji Tsubai, Naohiro Nakajima, Yasushi Watanabe

Publication number: 20020039540Abstract: A scroll type compressor includes a fixed scroll member, a movable scroll member, an inlet, a discharge port, a discharge valve, a first pressure region and a second pressure region. The inlet is formed through the fixed scroll base plate. The discharge port is formed through the movable scroll member. The discharge valve opens and closes the discharge port. The first pressure region and the second pressure region defined at opposite sides of the movable scroll member apply pressure to the movable scroll member. Gas introduced through the inlet is compressed and highly pressurized in accordance with the movable scroll member orbiting with respect to the fixed scroll member. The highly pressurized gas is discharged from a compression region via the discharge port and the discharge valve. The compressor is provided with a communication passage so as to intercommunicate the first pressure region and the second pressure region during a predetermined period of a compression cycle established by the gas.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2001Publication date: April 4, 2002Inventors: Kazuhiro Kuroki, Hiroyuki Gennami, Naohiro Nakajima, Shinji Tsubai, Yasushi Watanabe, Masahiro Kawaguchi
