Abstract: A hammer driving mechanism in a printing is arranged to prevent double striking during erasing operations. A controller is provided to control the hammer drive means or a stopper based upon whether an erase command or a print command is received.

Abstract: A text processing device is provided having a raster type CRT display and a printing unit. Codes corresponding to data to be displayed on the CRT display are stored in a memory which is updated during each vertical retrace period unless the device detects that a motor for the printing unit is activated in which case a fewer number of codes are rewritten into the memory.

Abstract: A step motor control device for controlling a performance of a step motor by outputting a plurality of phase of pulses, having a keyboard for inputting a number of steps for the performance of the step motor, is capable of determining an interval of time for outputting the pulses according to the number of steps inputted through the keyboard, and outputting the pulses in response with the interval determined by the determining means.

Abstract: Disclosed is a text processing system such as a word processor and an electronic typewriter. The disclosed system comprises memory means for storing character data and shift data indicating a character be printed on a line shifted upward or downward from a standard print line. Control means is operated to move a print head along the standard print line when a space or backspace key is operated, but is not operated to feed a print sheet even when the shift data are stored in the memory means for a character on which the print head is currently positioned.

Abstract: A data input and processing apparatus as used in a typewriter, having a function of checking the spelling of entered words which are separated by word-separation data such as a space or a period. The apparatus has a device for inhibiting an operation defined by the word-separation data, e.g., a spacing movement to the next word, if the spelling-check device finds a misspelled word. Where there exists at least one numeral and/or symbol preceding or following the entered word, the numeral and/or symbol are ignored in checking the spelling of the entered data. When a misspelled word is found, the entered word is first erased, and then at least one candidate word which replaces the mispelled word is presented to the operator.
