  • Patent number: 5441685
Abstract: An edging member of a window glass for an automobile door is provided with a plurality of contacting portions to which the window glass is contacted. Each of the contacting portions is provided with a batten surface layer including a synthetic resin such as nylon, urethane and polyolefin resin, and powders or grains of mica, molybdenum and/or graphite mixed with the synthetic resin. A rough surface having projections and recesses is formed on the front surface of the batten surface layer by extruding the batten surface simultaneously with the extrusion molding of the edging member.

  • Patent number: 5424019
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a weather strip for motor vehicles, wherein the weather strip body is provided with a protective film having a low friction characteristic and an increased tightness on an abutment portion with which the glass pane of the vehicle door is brought into contact. An olefin polymer based resin or a foamed material thereof, is extruded from one extrusion molding machine into a mold, is so to form the weather strip body, while a mixture consisting of a base material of an olefin polymer based resin having low viscosity and high fluidity and grains of particles of an additive material of an olefin polymer based resin having a high viscosity and low fluidity is extruded from another molding machine into the mold, so as to form the protective film. The weather strip body and the protective film are co-extruded and polymerized in the mold, and a rough surface having a plurality of protrusions is formed by the grains or particles of the additive material on the surface of the protective film.

  • Patent number: 5343655
Abstract: A weather strip allowing the opening and closing operations of the window glass in a door of automobile to be performed is formed by a base portion made of a hard synthetic resin, a support portion made of a soft synthetic resin and a contacting band layer comprising two synthetic resins of different melting points, of which powder or particles of the synthetic resin of a high melting point are mixed with the synthetic resin of a low melting point. The contacting band layers are provided on the portions of the base portion and support portion where the window glass abuts. The contacting band layer is formed by extrusion simultaneously with the extrusion of the base portion and support portion, whereby a rough face is integrally formed on the surface of the contacting band layer.

  • Patent number: 4911959
Abstract: An ornamental band for vehicles or the like having an elongate laminar structure including an outer colorless transparent synthetic resin layer having recesses in the inner surface, an inner colored synthetic resin layer having ridges on the outer surface for engaging in the recesses and at least one ornament strip interposed between the inner and outer resin layers and having a color different from that of the inner layer. One colorless-transparent and two different color resins are extrusion molded into an elongate cross-section laminar structure including the outer colorless-transparent resin layer with the recesses and the inner colored resin layer with mating ridges for engaging in the recesses and the ornament strip interposed between the inner and outer layers. The longitudinal opposite end portions of the laminar structure are bent by 90.degree.
