  • Publication number: 20090199232
Abstract: Provided is a recording and playing system that prevents, even when a client terminal having no recording function receives emergency information, missing out on a program viewed with the client terminal. The system includes a server terminal and a client terminal connected to each other via a network. From among a plurality of broadcast contents, the server terminal receives a portion of a broadcast content that is broadcast after an instruction to perform recording is received. It transmits the portion to the client terminal as a recorded content. The client terminal detects start and finish of reception of the emergency information, and during the emergency information reception, notifies the user of the emergency information.

  • Patent number: 7555019
Abstract: A digital broadcast system which, during the control of caching tables multiplexed into a transport stream, optimally updates the caching without wasting filter resources on changes such as updates to a higher version, addition, or disappearance of the tables. A digital broadcast apparatus broadcasts a transport stream into which an available table information table (ATT) is multiplexed. The ATT monitoring unit in the receiving apparatus regularly monitors an update in the ATT and generates an available table information list every time the ATT has been updated to a higher version. The cache controlling unit compares the available table information list with a cache information list, assigns a filter resource and updates the cache of the table when there is a table updated to a higher version or added, and clears the cache of the table when there is a table that has disappeared.

  • Patent number: 7113837
Abstract: A device control system is provided, in which a host device uploads optimal program code suitable for its own system environment from a target device for control. In the target device 2, a plurality of pieces of program code 231 through 23n used for different system environments and a header object 221 associated with the respective pieces of program code are stored in advance. The host device 1 obtains the header object 221 from the target device 2, and then parses the obtained header object 221 to determine program code 23x (x is one of 1 through n) optimal for its own system environment. The host device 1 then uploads the determined program code 23x from the target device 2 for interpretation, thereby controlling the target device 2.

  • Patent number: 6754680
Abstract: A data management apparatus for high-speed, seamless recording and reproduction of data, equipped with a recovery function and a defective region detection function, a data management function, and a recording medium. The data management apparatus records blocks of a fixed size on a first recording medium after dividing a stream data in blocks of a fixed size and manages the stream data recorded on the first recording medium based on the file management information to specify the stream data. After generating retrieval information on the blocks of a fixed size, the retrieval information is recorded in the blocks of a fixed size. File management information based on the retrieval information when the recovery of the file management information is requested. The retrieval information is recorded on a remaining region of the last sector where the data block is recorded.

  • Patent number: 6292878
Abstract: The present invention relates to a data recorder which chronologically records continuous data such as image data without interruption at high speed, a medium which stores the procedure of recording or reproducing in the data recorder as a program, and a method of accessing the data recorder. In one embodiment, the data recorder is equipped with a group of recording units, and each group unit has a SCSI adaptor and a hard disk. The hard disk is connected to the SCSI bus and the SCSI adaptor is connected to a PCI bus. With this construction, data to be recorded in the data recorder is split into units of a prescribed size and assigned and recorded on the group of recording units so as to utilize a plurality of hard disks as a single logical recording space.
