Abstract: A maillard reaction inhibitor comprising, as the principal component, an eight-structural polymer of 3-oxygermylpropionic acid represented by the following stereostructure (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COOH, and m is a weight average polymerization degree calculated on the basis of the weight average molecular weight of propagermanium propyl ester and is 137.+-.84 (137 on average with a standard deviation of .+-.3.sigma.); and having the following minimum constitutional unit:(O.sub.1/2).sub.3 GeCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COOHand the following empirical formula:C.sub.6 H.sub.10 Ge.sub.2 O.sub.7,a method for inhibiting the Maillard reaction, and a method for preventing and treating diseases caused by Maillard reaction such as diabetes and concurrent diseases thereof.

Abstract: A novel, eight structural polymer of 2-oxygermylpropionic acid having an empirical formula of C.sub.6 H.sub.10 Ge.sub.2 O.sub.7, a minimum constitutional unit of (O.sub.1/2).sub.3 GeCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COOH and the following stereostructure: ##STR1## wherein R stands for --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COOH and m is an integer of 137.+-.84. A pharmaceutical composition containing the novel polymer is useful for preventing symptoms of an immune disease such as hepatitis or for curing such a disease.

Abstract: An organic germanium compound to be effectively used for curing AIDS or making AIDS asymtomatic in various forms is expressed by the following rational formula: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer of 1 or 2 or more, is in the form of a white acicular or needle crystal, shows a solubility of 1.570/100 ml in water at 25.degree. C. and exhibits a melting (decomposition) point of 240.degree. C.

Abstract: A composition for inhibiting the degeneration of cells including liver cells by drugs and relieving the toxicity of drugs to internal organs including the liver contains as an essential component a 3-oxygermylpropionic acid polymer which is represented by:[(O.sub.1/2).sub.3 GeCH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 COOH].sub.nwherein n is an integer of at least 1, takes the form of a white acicular crystal and has a melting point of about 230.degree. C. at which it decomposes or coagulates. The present composition may be used with a carrier hydroxypropylcellulose in an amount of 0.005 to 50% by weight relative to 0.005 to 5% by weight of the 3-oxygermylpropionic acid polymer.

Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions for oral administration used for the treatment and prevention of hyperlipemia, obesity and obesity-related diseases contain phytic acid or its salt as a pharmaceutically effective component.

Abstract: A stabilized composition of phytic acid is obtained by the steps of:heating and drying rice bran de-fatted by pressing;adding acidic water of pH 3 to 5 to the dried rice bran, stirring the solution and completing the stirring before the pH of the solution reaches 5.7; andheating the thus obtained liquid extract to solidify protein components, followed by the removal of the solid matters by filtration. This composition is advantageously used for removing uraroma and body odor.
