    Abstract: A disc device includes the following: a traverse base 5 that can be moved between a recording/reproducing position and a standby position, on which an optical pickup 2 and a turntable 1 are mounted; a front cover 3 including a disc carrying surface 3a and an aperture 3b; a clamp base 10 that can be moved between a first position that does not overlap the disc carrying surface 3a and a second position that overlaps the aperture 3b and includes a damper 11 for clamping the disc 4 to the turntable 1; and an open/close member 9 that is movably provided at the back of the front cover 3 and can cover/uncover the aperture 3b. When the disc 4 is clamped, the clamp base 10 is moved from a standby position to the position overlapping the aperture 3b, then the open/close member 9 is moved to open the aperture 3b, and subsequently the traverse base 5 is moved from the standby position to the recording/reproducing position, thereby clamping the disc 4 with the turntable 1 and the damper 11.

    Abstract: A stop command detecting unit detects an operation transition from fast forwarding/rewinding modes to a stop mode, a take-up side reel braking unit and a supply side reel braking unit start a braking operation based on the stop command, and a driving motor of the take-up side reel is driven at a specified current value set by a motor current value setting unit for a specified time set by a current adding time setting unit to provide the take-up side reel with rotary torque in the winding direction. Hence, the supply side reel rotates together with the take-up side reel until the supply side reel is stopped, thereby preventing occurrence of a slack on the tape.

    Abstract: With a magnetic record and playback device that permits rapid switching from fast forward (FF) mode or rewind (REW) mode to playback (FWD) mode, when it is necessary to switch rapidly from fast forward (FF) mode or rewind (REW) mode to playback (FWD) mode, the device is operated in a first take-up mode in which magnetic tape is wound on the rotating head drum, and when it is not necessary to switch rapidly from fast forward (FF) mode or rewind (REW) mode to playback (FWD) mode but is required to increase magnetic tape transport speed, the device is operated in a second take-up mode in which the magnetic tape is not wound on the rotating head drum, whereby it is possible to shorten the fast forward/rewind time by raising the transport speed of the magnetic tape without increasing the load on the magnetic tape or the magnetic head.

    Abstract: A disc loading device allows a disc and a cartridge containing the disc to be slotted in through a common opening, and realizes stable conveyance of the disc and the cartridge by their respective suitable conveying means. A roller 4 is provided as conveying means for a disc 1, and a slide member 25 is provided as conveying means for a cartridge 15. When the disc 1 is inserted, the roller 4 is pressed against the disc 1, and the disc 1 is conveyed with the rotation. When the cartridge 15 is inserted, the roller 4 is released by being pushed down by a switching arm by a switching lever 21 abutting an end surface of the cartridge 15, and the cartridge 15 is conveyed by being slid together with the slide member 25 with an engagement portion 26 being engaged with a groove on a side surface of the cartridge 15.

Thus, it is possible to prevent any approach from being made to the end of the magnetic recording tape at a high running speed based on an erroneous detection to causing a damage on the tape, and to shorten time for fast forwarding and rewinding.
