    Abstract: A tape apparatus includes a tape drive and a processor. The tape drive is configured to perform data reading and data writing on a magnetic tape in which a plurality of tracks are formed. The processor is configured to control the tape drive to perform data reading and data writing on the plurality of tracks in a first segment among a plurality of segments obtained by dividing the magnetic tape in a running direction. The processor is configured to reserve a first track of the plurality of tracks as a copy target upon determining that an abnormality occurs in the first segment on the first track. The processor is configured to instruct the tape drive to copy data recorded in the first segment on the first track to a second segment on the first track at a predetermined timing. The second segment is adjacent to the first segment.

    Abstract: A system is provided in which a server which provides a service to a client terminal, a disk array device upon which data used by the server is stored, and a monitor terminal which detects a bottleneck on the disk array device, are connected via a network. The disk array device or the server calculates performance information including the number of IO requests issued by the server, the times required for processing the IO requests, and a resource utilization ratio for each resource included in the disk array device. The monitor terminal establishes a reference point based upon an average response time obtained by dividing the processing time included in the performance information by the number of the IO requests. And the system is characterized in that a resource is identified as a bottleneck, based upon the resource utilization ratio in a predetermined interval before the reference point.

    Abstract: In an erasing and recovering system for a data block on a magnetic tape in a magnetic tape recording and reproducing apparatus, the system includes: a detecting unit for detecting data error caused by a damaged portion on the magnetic tape by reading a data block just after the data block is written to the magnetic tape; a calculating unit for calculating the circumference of the magnetic tape including the damaged portion; an erasing unit for erasing half of the circumference including the damaged portion; and a data write unit for re-writing the same data block as the data block including the error into another half of the same circumference as the circumference including the damaged portion.
