    Abstract: Occurrence of cracking in a metal plate serving as a constituent plate is prevented by improving heat extraction and cooling characteristics, for instance, in the peripheries of cylinder bores which encounter a high-temperature fluid. To this end, a stopper plate, which has bore openings and either or both surfaces of which are coated with a sealing coating material, is provided with sealing coating material lacking portions formed in the vicinity of the bore openings in one surface thereof.     Abstract: A metal gasket is disclosed which is used arranged between a cylinder block and a cylinder head. The metal gasket comprises carrier plates having thereon beads, and a stopper plate overlaid on the carrier plates and provided with folded constructions, which are each composed of a folded flange area and its counterpart area confronting each other so as to provide a gap of a preselected interval between them. The gaps exert elasticity on the folded flange areas continuously whenever the gasket is squeezed and loaded due to engine operation whereby the folded constructions may compensate for intolerable clearance that might occur owing to the distortion in fatigue of the cylinder block with respect to the gasket, with resulting in improving sealing performance of the gasket.

    Abstract: A metal gasket is disclosed in which a sealing stress exerted on a deck-surface from any one of confronting bead plates is dispersed slantwise along the direction leaving its associated cylinder bore aperture so that the cylinder bores are protected from deformation owing to the high sealing stress occurring in the open-end portions of the cylinder bores. The bead plates have sealing beads confronting flanges of an first intermediate plates at their borderlines smaller radially of their associated cylinder bore apertures while confronting the first intermediate plate, less in thickness than the flanges, at their borderlines larger radially of their associated apertures. The sealing stress on the deck-surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder liner due to deformation of the beads may be dispersed uniformly over the flanges to thereby reduce the influence of the sealing stress on the liner section of the cylinder liner.

    Abstract: This metal gasket is adapted to excellently seal a height different portion occurring on the opposed surfaces of a cylinder block and a chain case, by elastic members provided in recessed portions of full beads on an elastic metal plate. In this metal gasket, a first elastic metal plate is laminated on a second elastic metal plate so that the ridges of full beads on the first elastic metal plate contacts the second elastic metal plate. The first elastic metal plate is provided with a half bead extending along the circumference of an opening in which a camshaft driving chain travels, and full beads position in the regions which correspond to the opposed surfaces of a three-surface combining portion.

    Abstract: This metal gasket interposes a regulation plate having compression stop portions and beads between first and second elastic metal plates the convexities of beads of which face one another. The compression stop portions prevent complete compression of each bead and absorbs any irregularity between opposed fitting surfaces around holes for a combustion chamber. An intermediate plate having an offset portion is sandwiched between the regulation plate and the second elastic metal plate. The offset portion is shaped to a height smaller than the thickness of the compression stop portions and regulates the degree of compression of each bead.
