    Abstract: A gear is formed on the outer circumference of the disk unit 20a of the zoom operating member 20 and on the outer circumference of the right zoom drive member 18, and an intermediate gear 19 that engages and connects with each of these gears is located between them. In other words, the zoom operating member 20 and the right zoom drive member 18 are connected to each other in a non-integrated fashion. When the zoom operating member 20 is manually rotated around the eye distance adjustment axis 22, the right zoom drive member 18 rotates via the intermediate gear 19 and the left zoom drive member 21 simultaneously rotates via the connecting member 11.

    Abstract: Binoculars having a fixed lens mount, a movable lens mount which is movable straight in a direction as approaching or moving away from the fixed lens mount to adjust their distance to viewer's eyes, a cover member for concealing a space formed between the fixed lens mount and the movable lens mount in accordance with a moving state of the movable lens mount. To the fixed lens mount is attached a first guide engaging with the movable lens mount to slidably guide the movable lens mount as well as a second guide engaging with the cover member so that the cover member is slidable along the second guide together with the movement of the movable lens mount. The binocular further includes a focus adjusting system between both lens mounts to move an objective lens incorporated in each lens mount in a direction of an optical axis, and an erect prism unit including a roof prism in each lens mount.

    Abstract: A device for use in appliances wherein a power cord can be easily moved from a position on one side of the appliance to a position on the other side thereof. In one embodiment, a wheel like assembly is used to hold the cord from the outside and has a stopper which can be held by a detent means in a desire one side position and another stopper which can be held by another detent means; in a desired position on the other side so that the cord can be held one one side or the other, and wherein the one stopper can be readily moved out from the one detent means and the other stopper moved to the other detent means by simply moving the cord from one side to the other. The wheel like assembly has walls that suitably align the assembly within a holder arrangement.

    Abstract: Sealing apparatus of wind boxes at both the ore charge and discharge sides of a Dwight-Lloyd sintering machine provides a plurality of seal members disposed in series in close contact with the bottom surface of pallets of the sintering machine, and a seal chamber communicating with a space provided between these seal members. The seal members are rotatable rolls having seal plates projectingly installed radially on the outer periphery thereof, and may be rolls with these seal plates held in close contact with the bottom surface of the pallets and the inner surface of the seal chamber, or may be flat seal plates with their flat surface firmly pressed against the bottom surface of the pallets. In the seal chamber is mounted an independent exhaust fan for the removal of air, further improving sealing performance.

    Abstract: A hand held vacuum cleaner comprising a first unit interconnected with a second unit by a locking mechanism. The first unit comprises an extendable telescoping mouth section, and the second unit comprises a motor, fan, handle, and filter. The locking mechanism comprises a resiliently held button on the second unit, which interlocks with a hole in the first unit, and a pair of protrusions on the sides of the second unit, and channels corresponding thereto in the walls of the sides of the first unit, whereby the protrusions and channels are snugly fitted together by pushing the two units together in a straight line, with the button fitting into the hole. The telescoping mouth enables the cleaner to have access to otherwise inaccessible parts to be cleaned. Seals are provided for preventing the cylinders from becoming contaminated with dust.

    Abstract: A hand held hot air dryer having a manually operated reel disposed within its housing for retracting and storing an electric cord therein when not in use. The reel is connected to a conductor coated insulator disc with connection to the cord and brushes are connected to the motor and heater, thereby to provide electrical connection. A ratchet and ratchet wheel may be provided to enable locking of the reel as the winding of the cord progresses. Means are provided for preventing the cord from being pulled away from contact with the disc when the cord is being pulled out for use.
