    Abstract: In a plug connector that incorporates an optical connector and a photoelectric conversion module connected with the optical connector, the optical connector attached to an optical cable is accommodated in an end bell and the photoelectric conversion module is accommodated in a barrel inserted into a mating receptacle connector. The barrel and the end bell go in a fitting completion state (locked state) by a Z-axis-direction locking mechanism and a rotation locking mechanism around the Z axis when the end bell is fitted to the barrel and the end bell is rotated about an axial center thereof (Z axis). The end bell can be detached from the barrel when the end bell is rotated in a reverse direction to that in locking while operating the locking member functioning as a rotation lock and releasing the rotation lock.

The cage has a cage rear plate and is provided with a terminal made of metal and a contact portion made of metal. The terminal extends downward from the cage rear plate. The contact portion is nearer to the cage rear plate than to the front end of the cage in a front-rear direction. When the cage is mounted on the board and the shell is attached to the case, the shell covers the cage, the terminal is fixed to the board, and the contact portion is pressed against the shell.

The optical connector has a ferrule with a tip, and the tip is located between the first guide portion and the second guide portion in the mating direction. When the connector is connected to a structural body and before the optical connector reaches an accommodating portion, the first guide portion performs rough positioning of the optical connector with respect to the accommodating portion in a plane perpendicular to the mating direction. When the connector is connected to the structural body, the second guide portion guides the optical connector into the accommodating portion.

The housing is movable with respect to the holder only along a first axis orthogonal to the direction of insertion. The holder is movable with respect to the shell member only along a crossing axis.

The optical-connector-incorporating plug can be reduced in size.
