  • Patent number: 5423528
Abstract: A paper feeding device for taking out paper sheets contained in a paper containing section one at a time by a paper feeding roller to feed the paper sheets. When a paper jam occurs in the position of the paper feeding roller, the rotation in one direction of the paper feeding roller is continued, so that the paper feeding roller is returned to its home position. At the time when the paper feeding roller is returned to its home position, the rotation of the paper feeding roller is stopped, to prepare for paper jam processing. A nip portion which nips the paper sheet and a non-nip portion spaced apart from the paper sheet are located on an outer peripheral surface of the paper feeding roller. In the home position, the nip portion is not opposed to the paper sheet and the non-nip portion is opposed to the paper sheet. That is, when a paper jam occurs, the paper feeding roller is stopped in a state where it is not pressed against the paper sheet in the paper containing section.

  • Patent number: 5273657
Abstract: A modified porous membrane can be prepared by dissolving an aromatic polymer having a thioether group in an organic solvent, forming membrane of the aromatic polymer from the resultant solution by phase conversion and oxidizing the formed membrane. This modified porous membrane can effectively be utilized in a filtration method wherein ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, fine filtration, gas separation, vapor permeation or pervaporation is conducted.

  • Patent number: 5145160
Abstract: An apparatus for manually sending a sheet of paper to the sheet handling machine (i.e., a feeding mechanism inside of a copying machine or printer) equipped with an automatic sheet-feeding cassette. The sheet sending apparatus is composed of an upper chute and a lower chute articulated by gears. When the apparatus is used, the chutes make a flat angle to smoothly pass a sheet to the feed roller and the lower chute press down the stacked sheets of the sheet cassette. When the apparatus is not used, the chutes rotate and the lower chute leaves the feed roller. A sheet guide is attached at the lower end of the lower chute to prevent the sheet sliding on the chutes from falling in the sheet cassette, and the parts of the sheet guide corresponding to the separator of the sheet cassette is removed to allow natural flipping action of the sheet when the sheet is drawn out of the sheet cassette.

  • Patent number: 5134438
Abstract: An image forming apparatus is provided with an original density detecting device for detecting the original density, and output characteristic switching device for switching the output characteristic relative to the original density detected by the original density detecting device to a plurality of types of predetermined output characteristics. The original density is found on the basis of a predetermined output characteristic out of the plurality of output characteristics of the original density detecting device and an output of the original density detecting device. Then, an output characteristic showing a high rate of change in the vicinity of the original density found by the first original density measuring device out of the plurality of output characteristics is selected by selecting device.

  • Patent number: 4835213
Abstract: A process for producing a lactone polymer which comprises reacting an ester compound synthesized from an alcohol and an acid or acid anhydride thereof with a lactone and a ring-opening polymerization initiator without being accompanied by condensation. The thus produced lactone polymer is effective for preventing shrinkage of thermosetting resins, particularly unsaturated polyester resins.

  • Patent number: 4724464
Abstract: An area setting device for setting coordinates of two points in a diagonal direction in one or more areas to be copied by a photocopier utilizing key operation in sequence, in which different colors are used for coordinate display in each direction. The same colors as the coordinate displays are used for coordinate input indicators. All the points are memorized as to whether coordinates have been applied. A key input is accepted for the first point not having coordinates applied, and this converts the memorized condition. Key input acceptance and memory state conversion are repeated for all the points required.
