  • Patent number: 5507168
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for bending a strip material such as a band blade. A stationary die having a slit through which the strip material is passed is integrated with a shaft body. A movable die which cooperates with the stationary die to bend the strip material is formed into a cylindrical shape. The rotation is transmitted from an electric motor, only to one end of the movable die. The replacement of the stationary die is facilitated by attaching the lower end of the shaft body by mounting bolts to a machine base through a mounting member. When the stationary die is to be replaced, the mounting bolts are removed, the shaft body and the mounting member are pulled out to the lower side of the machine base, and another shaft body is inserted from the lower side of the machine base, and the mounting member is fixed to the machine base by using the mounting bolts.

  • Patent number: 4680757
Abstract: In each node accommodated in a token-ring network system, a storage unit for storing priority levels is constituted by a plurality of flip-flops which provide bit positions of the same number as that of grades of the priority level. When storing a value of priority level which is higher than a value of priority level stored in the storage unit, the corresponding flip-flop of the storage unit is set. Two priority encoders connected to the output of the storage unit detect, from data of priority level stored in the storage unit, first and second priority levels and load then on registers, respectively. In accordance with the contents of the registers, the corresponding flip-flop of the storage unit is rest, when each node detects a value of priority level stored in the storage unit.

  • Patent number: 4669427
Abstract: In order to improve engine warm-up characteristics under cold climatic conditions and to safegard against possible unintentional overfilling of the of the cooling circuit of an evaporative type automotive cooling system wherein the coolant is permitted to boil and the vapor used as a vehicle for removing heat from the engine, the ambient temperature or a parameter which varies with the same is sensed and the control of the cooling system modified accordingly. One main feature comes in the control which is effected to reduce the surface area of the radiator of the system in which the coolant vapor is condensed is modified to avoid overfilling and possible damage due to overpressurization.

  • Patent number: 4662317
Abstract: In order to simplify the control and construction of the cooling system in a manner which avoids the need for costly electromagnetic valves and control circuits such as microprocessor and the like, a reservoir in which coolant is stored is arranged to constantly communicate with a lower portion of a cooling circuit which includes the coolant jacket and the radiator in which the coolant vapor is condensed. A small coolant pump returns condensate from the radiator to the coolant jacket in response to a temperature sensor disposed in the coolant jacket. A cooling fan or like device is operated in response to a second temperature sensor disposed at the bottom of the radiator. The reservoir communicates with the ambient atmosphere through a relief valve which remains closed until a predetermined positive or negative pressure differential prevails between the ambient atmosphere and the interior of the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4651691
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises a cylinder block formed of aluminum alloy and having main bearing bulkheads each of which is formed with a bearing surface. Main bearing caps are securely connected respectively with the bearing bulkheads and formed of aluminum alloy. Each bearing cap is formed with a bearing surface which is located in opposition to the bearing surface of the bearing bulkhead. Additionally, the main journal of a crankshaft formed of iron alloy is rotatably disposed between the bearing surfaces of the bearing bulkhead and bearing cap. The surfaces of the crankshaft main journal is in direct contact with the bearing surfaces of the bearing bulkhead and bearing cap without using conventional bearing metals, thereby cutting off engine noise due to the existence of the bearing metals.

  • Patent number: 4630573
Abstract: In order to obviate vapor locking and subsequent cavitation of a pump which returns coolant vapor condensate from a radiator to the coolant jacket of an evaporative type cooled internal combustion engine and maintains the highly heated structure of the engine immersed in a predetermined depth of liquid coolant, the load on the pump is sensed by determining the amount of electrical current the pump is drawing and in the event that the load is at a level indicative of pump cavitation the connection between the radiator and the pump is interrupted and communication between a reservoir and the pump is established so as to introduce cool liquid coolant into the induction port of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4624221
Abstract: In order to minimize the number of valves and conduits and the amount of coolant must be carried in an auxiliary reservoir of an evaporative type automotive cooling system, the valve and conduit arrangement which communicates the normally closed circuit cooling system with the reservoir consists of only two conduits and two valves. When the engine is stopped the cooling circuit is allowed to fill completely with the coolant from the reservoir. When the engine is started a low temperature non-condensible matter purge operation is avoided and if the temperature rises above a target value, either coolant is pumped out of the system (if excess coolant is available therein) or high temperature vapor is vented from the bottom of the radiator in bursts to purge out the non-condensible matter.

  • Patent number: 4605164
Abstract: A cabin heating arrangement is associated with an evaporative type engine cooling system and arranged so that immediately after a cold engine start when the cooling circuit of the engine is completely filled with liquid coolant coolant is inducted from a first port located immediately adjacent the most highly heated structure of the engine and pumped through the core of the cabin heater. Upon the coolant temperature rising sufficiently, coolant vapor is inducted from a second port located above the first one and introduced into the heater core.
