Patent number: 7869082Abstract: In a multi-function input/output device, an optical reading unit optically reads an optically readable code from a device control setting medium on which device control setting information, including use authentication information and unit-control-setting information for a document input control setting unit, a document-data-processing control setting unit, and a document-data-output control setting unit, is recorded. The device control setting information including the use authentication information is recognized from the code read by the optical reading unit. A user authentication unit authenticates the user by using a use authentication code of the use authentication information. A setting processing unit sets the unit-control-setting information based on a recognition result of the device control setting information and the use authentication information.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2007Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Ricoh Company, Ltd.Inventors: Yukihide Hayashida, Kenichi Iwama, Kazuhiro Yamada, Kiyoshi Kasatani, Naoki Takashima

Patent number: 6369580Abstract: With DC constant current applied to an end of one of transparent electrodes by a constant current application terminal, a voltage is measured at an end of a transparent electrode adjacent to the foregoing electrode by a voltage detection terminal, while a common electrode is earthed by applying a brush earth terminal thereto in the vicinity of the foregoing transparent electrode. If the transparent electrode is broken, the DC constant current application circuit detects a voltage saturation state, whereas if the transparent electrode is short-circuited, the DC voltage detection circuit detects variation in the foregoing voltage. A short-circuiting/wire breakage memory circuit stores the detected irregularity of the voltage as defect information, and either wire breakage or short-circuiting is detected on the basis of the defect information.Type: GrantFiled: January 20, 2000Date of Patent: April 9, 2002Assignee: Sharp Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Naoki Takashima, Tetsuya Kageyama
