  • Publication number: 20080128179
Abstract: A method for controlling an input portion of electronic devices enables the input portion capable of both a coordinate input operation and a pressure input operation to be easy-to-use. The input portion, which includes an operation panel, a coordinate input section disposed thereunder, and a pressure input section disposed thereunder, is connected to a controller so as to form an input device. In the coordinate input operation, the user runs a finger across the operation panel, and in the pressure input operation, the user presses a predetermined position. In the method, the distinction between the two input operations is performed by detecting the shape of the contact part of the finger in contact with the surface of the input portion based on the signal obtained from the coordinate input section and by using the detected result and predetermined criteria. The controller outputs the signal corresponding to the determination.

  • Patent number: 7095934
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an optical waveguide of the present invention is one in which a mask is provided on the surface of a core layer followed by performing dry etching, and the dry etching step includes etching and ashing steps. With this, the irregularities formed on the periphery of a core pattern during manufacture of an optical waveguide can be eliminated, and an optical waveguide with a low optical transmission loss is proved.

  • Patent number: 7039279
Abstract: An optical filter module of the present invention has a flat substrate, an optical path formed on the flat substrate; a filter insertion groove provided, crossing the optical path, on the flat substrate; a multilayer filter inserted, dividing the optical path, into the filter insertion groove; and a pair of covers disposed on the flat substrate so as to sandwich the multilayer filter. The present invention enables the omission of the process of adjustment of the optical axis, thus achieving high operability. At the same time, the present invention ensures fixing and mounting of the multilayer filter even if the multilayer filter is warped.

  • Publication number: 20050053348
Abstract: An optical waveguide includes a first cladding layer made of glass material, a core made of glass material on the first cladding layer, and a second cladding layer covering the core and made of glass material including at least one of alkali element, alkali-earth element, and rare-earth element. The first cladding layer has a first softening temperature and a first refraction index. The core has a second refraction index larger than the first refraction index. The second cladding layer has a second softening temperature lower than the first softening temperature, and has a third refraction index smaller than the second refraction index. The optical waveguide is manufactured at high productivity since the second cladding layer does not deform.
