Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a novel agent for adjusting hardness of a lens of an eye which can be taken easily, conveniently, and safely for a long-term, can effectively adjust the hardness of the lens, and is capable of preventing, alleviating and improving poor focus and decreased near visual acuity, such as presbyopia, caused by aging and various diseases. The present invention solves the above object by providing an agent for adjusting hardness of a lens of an eye comprising a glycosyl hesperetin as an active ingredient.

Abstract: An apparatus for counting the number of objects passing a given point which includes a radiant energy emitter provided above a given point, a radiant energy receiver provided above a given point and at an angle to the radiant energy emitter such that a radiant energy beam emitted by the radiant energy emitter intersects an extension of a radiant energy reception path of the radiant energy receiver in an area of intersection located below the emitter and receiver and over said given point and the area of intersection is provided at a height corresponding to the height of an object to be counted and a means coupled to the receiver for counting the number of objects which passes through the area of intersection.

Abstract: A device for counting the number of persons entering or exiting a given area including a mat switch having a plurality of normally open independent switches arranged in the form of a ladder and a plurality of resistors each connected to one of the plurality of switches, the switches and the resistors configured such that the output resistance of the mat switch undergoes a monotonic reduction as the switches are successively closed by the pressure of a person's foot as the person to be counted moves in a predetermined direction across the mat switch and a means for converting the change in the output resistance of the mat switch into a signal which is counted.
