  • Publication number: 20080113119
Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a polarizing plate having excellent adhesive property between a polarizer and a protective film, excellent durability under high temperature and high humidity conditions, and excellent appearance, and an image display apparatus using the polarizing plate. The polarizing plate of the present invention includes a polarizer, an adhesive layer, an adhesion promotion layer, and a protective film formed of a film containing as a main component a cyclic olefin-based resin, in which the adhesion promotion layer contains a silane having a reactive functional group and has a thickness of 1 to 50 nm.

  • Publication number: 20080007828
Abstract: A polarizer protective film of the present invention comprises a thermoplastic resin layer having a moisture permeability of 100 g/m2/24 hours or less; and a resin layer that contains a nylon resin and is laminated on the thermoplastic resin layer. The polarizer protective film can have good adhesion to a polarizer when it is bonded to the polarizer through an adhesive layer to form a polarizing plate, and can form a polarizing plate with good polarization properties.

  • Publication number: 20070193685
Abstract: A fabrication method for a polarizing plate having a transparent protective film provided on at least one surface of a polarizer, wherein the transparent protective film provided on the at least one surface comprises a cyclic olefin-based resin as a main component, at least one resin layer and a polyvinyl alcohol-based adhesive layer are sequentially laminated on a surface of the transparent protective film that is adhered to the polarizer and comprising a step of: adhering the polyvinyl alcohol-based adhesive layer on the transparent protective film and the polarizer in a condition of an aqueous liquid is present on an adhesion surface between the polyvinyl alcohol-based adhesive layer on the transparent protective film and the polarizer. The polarizing plate obtained is a good in adhesive strength and has a uniform polarization characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20060240196
Abstract: A method is provided by which a highly functional thin retardation plate with no appearance defect can be produced. First, as shown in FIG. 1A, a solution of a liquid crystalline compound is applied on a transparent base 1 and dried, or alternatively, a liquid crystalline compound on the melt is applied on the transparent base 1, and thus a liquid crystalline compound-containing layer 2a is formed. Then, as shown in FIG. 1B, the liquid crystalline compound-containing layer 2a is brought to a liquid crystal state or a liquid state so as to form a layer 2b. An alignment substrate 3 is brought into contact with an upper portion of the layer 2a so that the liquid crystal compound is aligned in a particular direction. Then, after the liquid crystalline compound is aligned in the particular direction, as shown in FIG. 1C, the liquid crystalline compound-containing layer 2b on the melt is solidified, and the alignment substrate 3 is removed.
