Publication number: 20090079348Abstract: A chopper circuit generates a voltage to be supplied to a primary side of a transformer, and an inverter circuit supplies an output voltage of the chopper circuit to the primary side of the transformer in a positive phase or a negative phase. Thereby, an electric-discharge lamp connected to a secondary side of the transformer is lighted. A controlling section detects a lamp current, and thereby determines a type of the electric-discharge lamp. The controlling section decides the control value optimal for the chopper circuit and the inverter circuit on the basis of the determination result. The controlling section controls the chopper circuit and the inverter circuit with the decided control value. Thereby, the lighting device drives the electric-discharge lamp in an optimal state. For instance, the lighting device always makes the electric-discharge lamp lighting in a 100% light-modulated state regardless of its type.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2006Publication date: March 26, 2009Applicant: HARISON TOSHIBA LIGHTING Corp.Inventors: Yoshiaki Hara, Hisashi Ishibashi, Naoki Tsutsui, Yuuichi Iida

Publication number: 20040022976Abstract: A bottle-shaped container shows a large critical strength against buckling and is made of a reduced amount of synthetic resin material. A manufacturing method can manufacture such a bottle-shaped container. A lightweight bottle-shaped container made of synthetic resin and formed by biaxially-oriented blow-molding, characterized in that a wall thickness is increased to 109% or more of an average wall thickness of blow-molded pad of the wall at an infection point between a portion having a transversal cross sectional area and a portion having a different transversal cross sectional area in a cylindrical wall. The wall is thicker between the heel and the bottom, or at the waist, at the recessed rib, or at the projection.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2003Publication date: February 5, 2004Inventors: Toyoji Kato, Daisuke Uesugi, Naoki Tsutsui, Naoto Hara, Tomoyuki Ozawa, Tomohiko Ishizuka, Hiromi Yaguchi

Patent number: 6175187Abstract: A dual tube type fluorescent lamp including a luminescence tube. The luminescence tube has a long and slender airtight glass bulb with a nonlinear form part, a pair of electrodes and a phosphor layer formed on the inside surface of the glass bulb. A gap is formed between the circumference of the luminescence tube and an outside glass tube. The luminescence tube encloses an electric discharge medium coating mercury and a rare gas. An inorganic substance layer is formed at least at the nonlinear form part either on the outer surface of the luminescence tube, on the inner surface of the outside glass tube, or both. The inorganic substance layer has a softening point higher than the softening point of the glass.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1999Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: Toshiba Lighting & Technology Corp.Inventor: Naoki Tsutsui

Patent number: 6057635Abstract: A low-pressure mercury vapor-filled discharge lamp has a glass arc tube and a glass outer tube disposed coaxially with the arc tube forming a space therebetween. A gas is disposed in the space. The arc tube contains a gas and is coated with a phosphor. A first seal hermetically seals the inner tube. A second seal seals the inner tube to the outer tube. The inner tube further contains a pair of cathodes coupled to Dumet wires extending from the interior of the inner tube to the outside of the lamp structure. The pressure in the space is set at not more than 1 Pa, which is nearly high vacuum. The longer the radial dimension of the space, the greater the heat retaining capacity and the better the temperature characteristics which can be obtained. However, by setting the pressure of the space at 1 Pa or less, the optimum heat retaining capacity can be obtained while reducing the diameter of the low-pressure mercury vapor filled discharge lamp 1.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1997Date of Patent: May 2, 2000Assignee: Toshiba Lighting and Technology CorporationInventors: Kiyoshi Nishimura, Ariyoshi Ishizaki, Kunio Yuasa, Masuo Shibuya, Masami Takagi, Naoki Tsutsui, Miho Saito, Shinji Mochimaru
