  • Patent number: 7341381
Abstract: A cantilever type latch having the fixed end on the side of exposing the terminal end surface of the optical fiber is provided on the side of the plug housing. Near the center of the upper surface of the latch, an engaging projection which is to be engaged in the engaging hole formed in the adapter or the receptacle is formed. The engaging projection has the slope which decreases the height toward the fixed end side of the latch, in which the gradient of the slope is nearly equal to or greater than the rotation angle required for the elastic deformation of the latch with the fixed end functioned as the fulcrum. Thereby easy disconnecting of the latch is implemented.

  • Patent number: 6572275
Abstract: An optical connector for making connection with a connecting partner side and releasing this connection is provided. The optical connector has an optical connector housing. The optical connector housing is formed by inserting a slider into a base end wall of an arm side member so as to be freely advanced and retreated. A cam following face is formed on an inner wall face of an arm portion of the arm side member. A claw portion is formed on a tip side of the arm portion. An opening angle driving cam member is connected to a tip side of the slider. A ferrule is arranged between the arm portions on a forward side of the opening angle driving cam member. When the slide is moved backward, the opening angle driving cam member is moved backward and is operated to angularly open the arm portion through the cam following face. This opening angle state is maintained by making the opening angle driving cam member abut on a stationary face of the cam following face.

  • Patent number: 6435728
Abstract: An optical connector housing having arm portions extending from both end sides of the face of the base end side. A space placed between the arm portions is constituted as ferrule accommodation space. An engaging portion which is engaged in an object to be connected is formed at the tip end side of the respective arm portions. A surface of an angle widening drive cam, which widens the arm portions when the ferrule is drawn to the face of the base end side, protrudes from and is formed on the inner wall of the arm portions extending from the position of the rear end face of the ferrule accommodated in the accommodation space to the base end side of the optical connector housing.

  • Patent number: 6352375
Abstract: A connector adapter including a light emitting element for emitting a laser beam and connected with a plug having an optical fiber, whereby the laser beam emitted from the light emitting element is introdued into the optical fiber. The connector adapter comprises a shutter member fixed in a connector and including a base portion having a first spring portion and a shutter portion connected to the base portion. The base portion undergoes elastic deformation at the first spring portion so that the shutter portion recedes from the optical path of the laser beam when the plug is pushed into the adapter to be attached thereto, and is restored from the elastic deformation so that the shutter portion intercepts the optical path of the laser beam when the plug is drawn out of the adapter to be detached therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6086704
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method of manufacturing an optical connector according to which it is possible to adjust a projection length a bare optical fiber (7) projects from a connection end surface (3) of a ferrule (1). At a step (a), an optical fiber cored line (5) is inserted through and attached to an optical fiber insertion hole (4) of the ferrule (1), and the bare optical fiber (7) and the ferrule (1) are bonded to each other by hardening a heat-hardening adhesive (11) at a first hardening temperature. Next, at a step (b), the connection end surface (3) is ground so that the connection end surface (3) becomes flat and flush with a tip surface of the bare optical fiber (7). Following this, at a step (c), the heat-hardening adhesive (11) is heated again to be hardened at a temperature which is higher than the first hardening temperature, so that a tip of the bare optical fiber (7), causing pistoning due to the reheat hardening, projects from the connection end surface (3).

  • Patent number: 5960138
Abstract: The backplane connector of the present invention can improve the fitting accuracy of the optical connectors A and B at the backplane 1 side and the package 2 side respectively and protect the backplane 1 from damages caused by being pressed against the first housing 3 when the first housing 3 is fit in the backplane 1. In the first housing 3 mounted floating in the backplane 1 is housed the second housing 7 by latching and connecting the latching projection 4 to the latching pawl 10, the backplane side optical connector plug 14 is incorporated in the second housing 7. And, the package side optical connector plug 23 is incorporated in the third housing 18 of the package 2. Then, the third housing 18 is inserted in the first housing 3, and the unlatching part 20 at the third housing 18 side presses down the tip side slope 13 of the latching pawl 10 to unlatch and disconnect the latching pawl 10 from the latching projection 4.
