  • Publication number: 20230364421
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for setting operational parameters of an implantable medical device system based on a combination of at least one monopolar stimulation measurement and one or more multipolar (focused) stimulation measurements. In particular, the techniques presented herein perform at least one objective or behavioral measurement using monopolar stimulation, and the same objective or behavioral measurement using focused stimulation with one or more degrees of focusing. Hearing outcomes/responses evoked in response to each of the measurements are captured/recorded and evaluated relative to one another to set one or more operational parameters, such as the degree of focusing, of the implantable medical device or implantable medical device system.

  • Publication number: 20230082528
Abstract: Presented herein are techniques for enhancing a hearing prosthesis recipient's perception of multiple frequencies present in received sound signals. The hearing prosthesis is configured to extract a plurality of frequencies from the received sound signals and to use the plurality of frequencies to modulate the amplitudes of different stimulation pulse sequences that are to be delivered to the recipient via different stimulation channels. The hearing prosthesis may also adapt a stimulation resolution of the stimulation pulse sequences when delivering the modulated stimulation pulses sequences to the recipient.

  • Publication number: 20210260378
Abstract: A method, including providing stimulation to a recipient of a prosthesis, such as a hearing prosthesis, such as an implantable prosthesis, such as a cochlear implant, wherein the stimulation is provided at temporal locations associated with sleep of the recipient, and the stimulation is at least one of part of a measurement method or an auditory training method.

  • Patent number: 10149068
Abstract: A method may include receiving a sound signal and identifying a plurality of components of the sound signal. The plurality of components may include a tonal component and an atonal component. The method may further include generating a first stimulation signal based on the tonal component of the sound signal, wherein the first stimulation signal is configured for application by a first stimulator to provide an acoustic output from a hearing prosthesis system. In addition, the method may include generating a second stimulation signal based on the atonal component of the sound signal, wherein the second stimulation signal is configured for application by a second stimulator to provide an electrical output from the hearing prosthesis system.

  • Patent number: 10015602
Abstract: Attenuation covers are used to reduce the amplitude of input signals at a microphone or other sound-receiving component of an auditory prosthesis. The auditory prosthesis detects distortion present in the output signal from sound processing components and notifies a recipient that an attenuation cover is recommended or desirable. Use of the cover can provide a clearer output signal to the recipient, so as to improve the recipient experience. Such covers can be particularly useful in environments where the input sound signals exceed the dynamic range of the auditory prosthesis.
