Abstract: A method and system for generating adaptive explanations for associated recommendations is disclosed. The adaptive explanations comprise a syntactical structure and associated phrases that are selected in accordance with usage behaviors and/or inferences associated with usage behaviors. The phrases included in an adaptive explanation may be selected through application of a non-deterministic process. The adaptive explanations may be beneficially applied to recommendations that are associated with content, products, and people, including recommendations that comprise advertisements.

Abstract: In accordance with the embodiments described herein, a method and system for adaptive knowledge lifecycle management, and methods for delivering adaptive knowledge lifecycle management services to customers, is disclosed. Adaptive knowledge lifecycle management provides a means for beneficially adapting knowledge assets and their collective structures over time. It also provides a means for generating an estimate of the value of knowledge assets and their associated organizing topologies, as well as providing a means to determine changes in value corresponding to changes to the knowledge assets and their associated organizing topologies.

Abstract: Methods of applying adaptive social computing systems are disclosed. The social computing systems include capabilities to generate adaptive recommendations and representations of social networks derived, at least in part, from inferences of the preferences and interests of system users based on a plurality of usage behaviors, spanning a plurality of usage behavior categories. The behavioral categories include system navigation behaviors, content referencing behaviors, collaborative behaviors, and the monitoring of physical location and changes in location. Privacy control functions and compensatory functions related to insincere usage behaviors can be applied. Adaptive recommendation delivery can take the form of visual-based or audio-based formats.

Abstract: A computer-implemented system and method of adaptive social network management is disclosed. The social networks comprise a network of computer-implemented objects representing people and may include content that has a relation to one or more of the people. The adaptive social network management system provides functions to generate social network metrics associated with people that are determined derivatively from interactions with objects that have a relationship with the corresponding people. The adaptive social network management system can also generate affinities among computer-implemented objects that represent people from inferences of the interests of the people. Social network representations are generated and applied that include the social network metrics and/or affinities.

The frequency distribution of the plurality of potential phrases is updated based on the behaviors of the communications recipients. Thus, the frequency of the selection of phrases included in communications, and hence the “personality,” of the computer-based system, is influenced by prior usage behaviors. The computer-based personality may also exhibit “self-awareness' by monitoring changes in phrase frequency distributions over time, as well as being capable of expressing awareness of, and inferences from, changes in the behavior patterns of users over time.
