  • Publication number: 20110273474
Abstract: A PC displaying an image on a display unit accepts handwriting input to the image, and displays the accepted handwriting on the image. The PC detects object regions including a certain object in the image and comment placement regions corresponding to respective object regions. If the starting position of the first stroke of handwriting is included in any one of the object regions, the PC determines that the accepted handwriting is directed to the object region. When the input of the handwriting to the object region is finished, the PC identifies a display region for the handwriting and changes the size of the input handwriting so as to display the input handwriting in the comment placement region corresponding to the object region. The PC displays the size-changed handwriting in the identified display region and further displays a comment balloon surrounding the displayed handwriting.

  • Patent number: 7796818
Abstract: Execution commands corresponding to the type of gesture are stored and by acquiring coordinate values of accepted handwriting input including gesture on a display screen, handwriting is displayed. When handwriting input is accepted, display data of handwriting is updated. When handwriting input is not completed, it is decided whether or not handwriting input is gesture input. When it is decided that the handwriting input is gesture input, the type of gesture is decided on the basis of the coordinate values of gesture on the display screen, an execution command corresponding to the type of gesture is read and the fact that the handwriting input is gesture input is displayed. When gesture input is completed, the execution command corresponding to gesture input is executed. Therefore, the user can make handwriting input according to the user's intent without performing mode switching.

  • Patent number: 7007233
Abstract: The invention presents a device and a method for entering a character string in which a dictionary is changed dynamically in accordance with the input situation of the user, and in which character strings that are generally suitable for the input situation of the user can be entered. When a character string is entered, the situation in which the character string is entered is acquired. In accordance with the acquired situation, a dictionary used for the generation of candidate character strings or a portion of such a dictionary are affirmed as a situation-optimized dictionary. Optimized output candidate character strings are generated and outputted in accordance with the situation from character strings that have been input using this situation-optimized dictionary, and when output candidate character strings are affirmed and outputted, the affirmed character strings are stored in the situation-optimized dictionary in accordance with the acquired situation.
