  • Patent number: 5570961
Abstract: A color printer comprises a recording sheet tray 3 capable of storing numerous recording sheets 2, a sheet feed/discharge roller 293 feeding an uppermost recording sheet 2 from the recording sheet tray 3 to a platen roller 7, and a clamp mechanism section 13 clamping a front end of a recording sheet 2 loaded on the platen roller 7 at a predetermined fixed position. A driving device rotates the platen roller 7 to reciprocate the loaded recording sheet 2 in forward and backward directions every time when each of plurality of color images, such as yellow (Y), magenta (M), and cyan (C), is printed on the loaded recording sheet 2. A sheet transportation path is defined between the sheet feed/discharge roller 293 and the clamp mechanism section 13 for transporting the loaded recording sheet 2 forward and backward. This sheet transportation path is shorter in length than the recording sheets 2.

  • Patent number: 5502477
Abstract: A color printer for recording an image having at least two colors on a recording sheet with a recording head being brought into contact with a platen roller in a state that the recording sheet is interposed therebetween, the two colors being successively printed on a surface of the recording sheet with the recording sheet being operated to reciprocate with respect to a recording position on the platen roller. The printer includes a clamping device provided at a downstream side of the recording head in a sheet-travelling path from a supply section of the recording sheet to a discharging section of the recording sheet for holding the recording sheet when recording the image. The clamping device is fixed with respect to the recording position so that a distance between a holding position of the recording sheet taken by the clamping device and the recording position on the platen roller is always constant during the image recording.

  • Patent number: 5169827
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a color separation plate for screen dot color printing, having screen dots recorded thereon, the size of the screen dots corresponding to the density of one of the primary colors of an image to be printed, by one of the color signals corresponding to respective primary colors and obtained by reading out the image to generate an electric signal corresponding to the image and separating the electric signal into the color signals corresponding to the primary colors, respectively. A sheet of recording material (12) which is transparent and applicable to thermal transfer recording is prepared. Also prepared is a rotatable flat platen (11). The sheet (12) of the recording material is put on the flat platen and the flap platen is rotated by a specific angle from the position where the sheet of the recording material is put on the flat platen.

  • Patent number: 5005998
Abstract: A cartridge for a printer system for storing a paper and an ink film comprises an ink film storing part provided at a front side of the cartridge for holding a first roll of ink film and a second roll of ink film immediately behind the first roll so that the ink film is wound between the first and second rolls continuously and a paper storing part behind the ink film storing part for storing the paper therein as a form of a paper stack. The ink film storing part has a first opening on a first side of the cartridge so as to allow taking out of the first roll of ink film from the cartridge through the first opening, and the paper storing part has a second opening on a second side of the cartridge relative to the direction of insertion of the cartridge into the printer which is opposite to the first side so as to allow feeding of the paper from the cartridge through the second opening.

  • Patent number: 4917513
Abstract: A thermal imprint recording apparatus for recording an image on a paper by a thermal head uses a cartridge of recording paper on which a roll of ink film for supplying the ink film and another roll on which the ink film is taken up are carried. The apparatus comprises an arm adapted to engage with one of the rolls when the cartridge is loaded on the apparatus. Responsive to the loading, the arm is swung upwards and the roll is lifted from the cartriddge. The roll is then carried over a platen roller of the printer and the ink film is drawn out so as to engage with the upper surface of the platen roller. Further, the paper is taken out from the bottom of the cartridge and is transported along a path passing below the platen roller to a predetermined printing station located between the platen roller and the ink film.

  • Patent number: 4641151
Abstract: A device associated with a thermal transfer recording apparatus for boosting a pressing force of a thermal head against a platen roller. The thermal head is mounted on one end portion of an elongate support plate which is movable in a seesaw motion about a fulcrum. Output torque of a rotary solenoid device is transmitted to the support plate by a rotary shaft which is connected to the solenoid device, so that the support plate is moved about the fulcrum to press the head against the platen. During recording, an extra drive force is derived from a tension of an ink sheet and imparted via the rotary shaft to the support plate to move the support plate, serving to further intensify the pressing force of the head against the platen.
