  • Patent number: 7614796
Abstract: A wheel support bearing assembly, in which the rigidity of an outboard portion thereof can be increased without increasing the weight of the bearing assembly. The wheel support bearing assembly includes outer and inner members and inboard and outboard rows of rolling elements interposed between outboard and inboard raceways defined in the outer and inner members confronting each other. The inner member includes a hub axle having a wheel fitting flange on an outboard side thereof, and an inner race member mounted on an inboard end thereof. The hub axle has an outer diameter measured at a point intermediate between the inboard and outboard rows of rolling elements that is greater than the minimum diameter of the raceway on the inboard side. A pitch circle diameter of the outboard row of rolling elements is greater than the pitch circle diameter of the inboard row of rolling elements.

  • Patent number: 6135643
Abstract: A hub unit bearing assembly includes a tapered roller bearing including an inner race (3), an outer race (4) having a fixture (4a) defined therein so as to extend radially outwardly therefrom, and a multiplicity of rollers (5) retained in a circumferential row by a cage (6) and rollingly positioned between the inner race (3) and the outer race (4). A hub (2) including the inner race (3) on a portion of an outer periphery of said hub (2). The inner race (3) is a member either integral with the hub (2) or separated from the hub (2). The cage (6) rotatably accommodates the respective rollers (5) in the form as retained thereby prior to assemblage of the cage (6) with the rollers (5) into the roller bearing. The cage (6) and the rollers (5) are, after the rollers have been mounted in the cage (6), inserted in between the inner race (3) and the outer race (4).

  • Patent number: 5746676
Abstract: A friction type continuously variable transmission has double cones kept in contact with an input shaft and a drive cone and is capable of transmitting the rotation of the input shaft to an output shaft so that the output shaft rotates at a higher speed than the input shaft. A mechanism is provided for preventing the double cones from rotating about the input shaft and from coming off of their support shafts. A stay is mounted on a carrier supporting the double cones. The stay carries a guide roller bearing received in a guide fixed to a housing of the transmission. The stay thus prevents the rotation of the carrier while allowing only its axial movement. A stopper surface is provided at one end of the guide to restrict the axial movement of the carrier within a predetermined range.

  • Patent number: 5545101
Abstract: A frictional type continuously variable transmission having a continuously variable transmission unit with a planetary gear unit attached thereto to increase the speed ratio as a whole while not increasing the size of the entire device. This transmission is composed of the continuously variable transmission, a planetary gear unit and an impeller unit. The planetary gear unit has a drive shaft, a carrier fixed to the drive shaft, a plurality of planetary gears supported on the carrier, and an internal gear meshing with the planetary gears. The continuously variable transmission unit has an input shaft to which is fixed a sun gear meshing with the planetary gear. With this arrangement, the impeller can be rotated at a high speed even if the speed ratio of the continuously variable transmission unit is low. The transmission unit also has a pressing mechanism at the input shaft end. Thus, it is possible to manufacture the three units separately and assemble them together.
