  • Patent number: 7059214
Abstract: In an electronic control unit, a transmission control module for controlling an automatic transmission and a position sensor for detecting the range position of the automatic transmission are built in a common unit case. A first member and a second member to be fitted at the time of mounting the electronic control unit on an automatic transmission case are directed in the mounting direction when mounted on the automatic transmission case, and a third member is mounted on those two members. A predetermined clearance is formed at a predetermined portion on the mounting path between the automatic transmission case and the third member. When the electronic control unit is mounted on the automatic transmission case, therefore, the clearance on the mounting path inbetween absorbs the positional deviation between the first member and the second member thereby to facilitate the mounting work. Thus, the mounting workability of a position sensor built-in electronic control unit on an automatic transmission is improved.

  • Publication number: 20060023426
Abstract: An ECU has an enclosure which is contained in the casing of an automatic transmission, which is formed of a material having low heat conductivity, and which provides liquid-tight containment of a substrate. A heat sink is attached to the substrate so as to dissipate heat from an electronic circuit on the substrate. The heat sink is attached in contact with an inner wall surface of the enclosure, so that heat produced by the electronic circuit is dissipated via the heat sink and the enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20050028624
Abstract: A control apparatus includes a shift position detecting device for detecting a shift position that is changed by manual operation of the vehicle driver, an ECU for controlling an A/T based on a signal for a detected vehicle running state, and connectors that connect to an electrical unit outside the casing. Further, the shift position detecting device, the connectors, and the electronic control unit are electrically connected through a connecting board. Consequently, the shift position detecting device, the ECU, and the connectors can be freely laid out.

  • Patent number: 6302706
Abstract: In order to precisely detect positions of respective lead portions of an electronic component and to reduce the cost of production of the electronic component, the electronic component has a resinous pad portion and a plurality of terminal units embedded in the pad portion. Each of the terminal units is provided with lead portions that are disposed parallel to one another with their terminal faces exposed, and junction portions for junction between bonding wires and the lead portions are formed on the terminal faces. Corner portions are formed at predetermined sections on the terminal faces. In this case, even if resin of the pad portion has adhered to the peripheries of the terminal faces and fouled the terminal faces, since the lead portions have the corner portions, images of the lead portions can be detected precisely. Accordingly, the operation of connecting the bonding wires to the terminal faces is performed more efficiently, whereby the cost of production of the electronic component can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6195263
Abstract: In an electronic control unit, a pad portion thereof is firmly fixed to a terminal plate and vibration of the terminal plate under supersonic vibration is prevented so as to secure the bonding strength between the terminal plate and the wire during wire bonding. One lead portion of each terminal plate is connected to a pin of the connector and another lead portion is wire bonded to the terminal of the circuit substrate. The leads have bent portions extending from an exposed surface to be bonded in opposite directions to be embedded in the pad portion of the case such that the lead portion of the terminal plate is firmly fixed to the case.

  • Patent number: 6057519
Abstract: A control unit has an electronic control device that includes a base board on which a plurality of elements, including a microcomputer containing an automatic transmission program, are disposed. The electronic control device includes an integral neutral start switch connected to the microcomputer. The neutral start switch also includes a rotor and contact-type switches operated by rotation-of the rotor. The base board and the rotor are disposed in a case and are substantially parallel to each other at opposite sides of an intermediate wall formed in the case. The base board is separated from the contact-type switches by the intermediate wall to prevent communication of oil or metal dust from the contact-type switches to the base board.

  • Patent number: 6021368
Abstract: A compact-sized position detecting switch-combined electronic control unit disposed on the main body of an automatic transmission and used for detecting range positions chosen by a driver during a shifting operation. The control unit has a base board on which a plurality of elements are arranged, including a microcomputer containing an automatic transmission control program, and a position detecting switch whose detecting portion is connected to the microcomputer. The base board and the position detecting switch are disposed in a single case. The position detecting switch has a rotor and a plurality of non-contact sensors disposed on the base board. The microcomputer contains a learning control program for calculating and correcting any positional deviation in the rotational angle of the rotor with respect to each sensor on the basis of signals from the sensors corresponding to rotation of the rotor. Some of the elements on the base board are arranged outside the range of rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5823070
Abstract: An automatic transmission includes a casing housing a transmission mechanism and having a wall with a through-hole. A first plurality of electronic components is mounted exterior to the casing and a second plurality of electronic components is mounted on the interior of the casing. A sealed wire terminal is mounted in and closes the through-hole 21. An electronic control unit is mounted in the sealed wire terminal 22 and cables electrically connect the electronic control unit to the first and second pluralities of electronic components. The sealed wire terminal includes a seal member supporting the cables and sealing the through-hole. Thus, the automatic transmission and the electronic control unit can be combined before mounting on a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5811747
Abstract: An electronic control unit (ECU) and a position detection unit are disposed in separate chambers formed in a case. Two switch portions are separately disposed on opposite sides of a movable member of the position detection unit, thus reducing the size of the unit. The signal-related circuit that needs to be connected to the ECU for signal transmission and the drive circuit, for starting the starter motor and turning on the reverse lamps, that does not need the connection to the ECU for signal transmission, are separately disposed on the opposite sides of the movable member, that is, on the case side and a first cover side. The drive circuit is completely separated from the signal-related circuit and the ECU, thus preventing the drive circuit from electrically interfering with the signal-related circuit or the ECU.

  • Patent number: 5729007
Abstract: A slotted rotor is fixed to a manual shaft operatable by using a shift lever. The slotted rotor is turnable in a restricted angle about the manual shaft. The rotor has a slot in arc segment a, slots in arc segment b, slots in arc segment c, slots in arc segment d, and slots in arc segment e that are arranged concentrically about the manual shaft, in that order starting from the manual shaft. As the rotor turns, the slots in arc segments d, e cause incremental pulses to be generated. Based on the number of pulses, a control unit detects deviation from the planned neutral position and establishes a correct neutral position. The position detecting apparatus and method make it easy for a worker to perform the neutral position alignment of a neutral start switch and to maintain the alignment after the switch has been mounted.

  • Patent number: 4443399
Abstract: A method of producing a biaxially oriented sheet or film, wherein molten resin is simultaneously, biaxially oriented in a direction of extruding the molten resin and in a direction perpendicular thereto, and an apparatus therefor, are disclosed. In the method of producing a biaxially oriented sheet or film, the molten resin is extruded into a tubular form in the horizontal direction, once cooled, thereafter, in heating the tubular resin prior to the biaxial orientation, the tubular resin is uniformly heated with the heating applied on the vertically lower side and the heating applied on the vertically upper side of the tubular resin being controlled separately of each other so as to prevent the ununiformity of the heating of the tubular resin in the circumferential direction thereof due to the elevation in heat caused by a thermal convection phenomenon, and then, the tubular resin is biaxially oriented.
