  • Publication number: 20130046442
Abstract: A motor vehicle steering system includes a knob for rotationally manipulating a steering member and a knob reaction force actuator for giving a reaction force in response to the rotation of the knob. The knob has a knob center and is supported by the steering member in a manner rotatable about the knob center. Holding the knob and manipulating the steering member causes the knob to rotate (spin) about the knob center as the steering member rotates. The knob reaction force actuator then gives an appropriate reaction force in response to the rotation (spinning) of the knob.

The stator core includes a plurality of teeth formed on, for example, an inner periphery of the yoke and has a coil wound on each of the teeth. Each of the teeth includes first and second end portions opposed to each other in a radial direction of the stator core. The first end portion is connected to the yoke. The second end portion is formed with an axially extending projection extending in an axial direction of the stator core. A coil receiving groove is defined between the axially extending projection and the yoke. The axially extending projection includes a distal end portion in the axial direction, and a root portion adjoining a bottom of the coil receiving groove. In the radial direction, a thickness of the root portion is greater than a thickness of the distal end portion.

  • Patent number: 6896090
Abstract: In a normal state, a reaction force actuator (20) applies an operation reaction force to an steering member (2) through a planetary gear mechanism (6). When failure occurs in a steering actuator (12), the reaction force actuator (20) is turned off, and a plunger (13) locks the rotation of one element (18) which is connected to the reaction force actuator (20), in the planetary gear mechanism (6). In turn, a manual steering mode is set up in which a rotation of the steering member (2) is transmitted to a pinion gear (14) at a transmission ratio of the carrier (16) holding planetary gears (17) and a sun gear (15).
