  • Publication number: 20050207047
Abstract: A master for magnetic transfer is provided that obtains favorable close contact with a slave medium, is capable of good positioning therewith, and prevents positional misalignment, damage, and separation failures. The master carrier is formed to have surface properties such that a frictional characteristic value F/P·A is within a range from 173 to 24/cm2, and preferably within a range from 112 to 45/cm2, when the master carrier and the slave medium are placed in uniform close contact with a contact area A, a vertical load P is applied, the master carrier and the slave medium are pulled in their planar directions, and the maximum static friction at this time is designated as F. It is also preferable that a hard protective layer of DLC film is formed on the surface of the master carrier, and that a lubricant is provided on the hard protective layer, as necessary.

  • Publication number: 20050200990
Abstract: Deformations (distortion/warp) of a master base plate developed during manufacturing are regulated to ensure close contact with a slave medium and quality of magnetic transfer. The master base plate is formed by the following steps. A metal is laminated through electroforming or the like on an irregular pattern corresponding to information to be transferred formed on an original disk. The metal is formed into a disk having a predetermined thickness, which is then peeled off the original disk. The amount of distortion of the master base plate along one rotation at any equidistance radius is less than or equal to 70 ?m. Preferably, in the amount of distortion along one rotation at any equidistance radius of the master base plate, the ratio of distortion components beyond secondary distortion component is less than or equal to 20%, and warp is less than or equal to 150 ?m.

  • Publication number: 20050018335
Abstract: The master carrier for magnetic transfer of the invention comprises a support and a magnetic layer formed on the surface of the support, wherein an uneven transfer pattern that corresponds to the information to be transferred to a magnetic recording medium is formed in the surface of the magnetic layer, and a relief is formed in the site where the transfer pattern is not formed.

  • Patent number: 5608759
Abstract: In a digital communication network in which pieces of information having different PCM coding rules are present, an information storage apparatus includes a control unit, a storage unit, and at least one transconverter. The control unit includes a comparator which compares the coding rule identifier read from the storage unit with a coding rule identifier of the read destination, when the control unit receives the information read request signal transmitted with the coding rule identifier of the read destination, so that if the coding rule identifier read out from the storage unit coincides with the coding rule identifier of the read destination, the PCM-coded information read out from the storage unit is transmitted without code conversion, and if the coding rule identifier read out from the storage unit does not coincide with the coding rule identifier, the PCM-coded information is transmitted through a selected transconverter to produce code-converted PCM-coded information.
