  • Patent number: 7010477
Abstract: A word is input, along with a concept notation function that is a function for expressing what are described by that word, from a word set output unit to an optimal word string output unit. The optimal word string output unit computes a similarity between a word from the word set output unit and a registered word registered in a dictionary. The optimal word string output unit computes, even when a word not registered in the dictionary is input, a similarity between that word and a word registered in the dictionary.

  • Publication number: 20050251385
Abstract: From a word set output section, a word is inputted to an optimum word train output section along with a concept notation function which is a function for representing a matter that the word indicates. The optimum word train output section calculates, on the basis of respective concept notation functions, analogousness between the word from the word set output section and a registered word registered in a dictionary. Also in the case where a word which is not registered in the dictionary is inputted, the optimum word train output section calculates the analogousness between that word and the word registered in the dictionary.

  • Publication number: 20050021334
Abstract: An information-processing apparatus, a method thereof, and a program therefor that can give an utterance adaptively to changes of the condition of a person and changes in environment. The information-processing apparatus for giving an utterance to a conversational partner to make the conversational partner understand an intended meaning of the utterance, includes a function inference element for inferring an overall confidence level function representing a probability that the conversational partner correctly understands the utterance, and an utterance generation element for giving the utterance by estimating a probability that the conversational partner correctly understands the utterance on the basis of the overall confidence level function.

  • Patent number: 6816831
Abstract: A language learning apparatus includes a syntax-structure analyzing unit and a syntax-rule learning unit. The syntax-structure analyzing unit is provided with a speech recognition portion for recognizing a word string from input speech data Oi based on speech pattern information of a vocabulary-information storage unit. A semantic analyzer detects image patterns from input moving picture data Vi by using the information stored in the vocabulary-information storage unit, and analyzes the relevance of the detected image patterns and outputs a concept representation using the words corresponding to the individual image patterns. A relevance analyzer verifies the word string extracted by the speech recognition portion against the semantic representation extracted by the semantic analyzer so as to determine the syntax structure of the word string. Then, the syntax-rule learning unit learns the syntax rule by using the determined syntax structure.
