    Abstract: A casing includes half members coupled with each other. The half members in cooperation define an inner space for containing a storage device. A removable storage device unit is thus established. A guide surface is defined on the casing. The guide surface is related to a predetermined guide located on an enclosure defining an interior space for containing the casing. The guide surface serves to guide movement of the casing with respect to the enclosure. The removable storage device unit can easily be detached from the enclosure without disassembling the enclosure. The removable storage device unit can easily be carried. The user is allowed to utilize the single storage device common to a plurality of or various electronic apparatuses, for example. This enables a facilitated exchange of data between the electronic apparatuses.

    Abstract: A disk unit for writing data in a given position on a disk and reading data written in the given position on the disk by using a head includes a temperature control unit for controlling a temperature of a body of the disk unit by heating or cooling the body of the disk unit. The disk unit detects the temperature dependence of a characteristic of a rotary mechanism unit including at least a spindle motor and a voice coil motor, based on position information included in servo information reproduced from the head or a value of a current of the spindle motor, and compares the detected characteristic with a predetermined value, and operates the temperature control unit, when the characteristic has been degraded, so as to suppress the degradation of the characteristic. A temperature control method, of the disk unit, by operating an MPU, or the like, of a computer is provided.

The storage device unit enables prevention of rise in the temperature of the storage device based on the action of the heat radiation device. The storage device keeps normally operating in a high temperature condition. Moreover, the heat radiation device can be attached to a conventional storage device, so that it is possible to avoid the redesign of the storage device. The storage device having a resistance to high temperature can be provided in this manner at a lower cost.

    Abstract: A spindle motor comprises a central axis fixed to a housing base. A core body is cantilevered by an annular member so as to support a coil of a stator. The coil is fixed to the housing base by an adhesion. The cantilevered core body is also supported by the housing base, so that the movement of the core body and coil is reliably restrained. The stator is prevented from vibrating during rotation of the rotor. Accordingly, reduction in the vibration of the spindle motor can be achieved.
